Marshals needed for this historic event on Sunday November 1st 2026.

The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is the world’s longest running motoring event and sees more than 400 Veteran Cars from around the world make their way from Hyde Park to Madeira Drive in Brighton. Cars have to have been manufactured before 1905 to qualify for The Run and for this year we already have nearly 400 entries from 17 different countries! Please consider spending a day at this historic event which is a unique celebration and quite unlike any event that you may have marshalled on before.

The timing of the event is that the first cars start The Run at sunrise, which this year is 06:53 and whilst there is no element of competition or speed, they have to reach Brighton by sunset at 16:30 to qualify as finisher.

We need a small army of marshals to cover the various roles on the route to make sure all the Participants reach Brighton safely:

Hyde Park Paddock Marshals – Responsible for making sure all 400+ Veterans are ready for the start at 06:53. Yes, it’s an early start but by 08:30 or so the day will be yours.

Route Marshals and Checkpoint Marshals – Placed along the course and responsible for checking the passage of the Veterans reporting regularly to Event Control and ensuring they make it around the trickier parts of the course. This might be on the hills or at particular junctions where they may need assistance dealing with modern traffic.

Crawley and Brighton Paddock Marshals – Responsible for the smooth flow of the halfway halt at Crawley and the finish zone at Madeira Drive in Brighton.

Tow Marshals – Equipped with a suitable vehicle, Tow Marshals are positioned at points on the course where the Veterans may need a little bit of help! You will need the experience and equipment to tow vehicles a short distance uphill. Once at the top, you then return to await the next customer. Always working under the leadership of a Section Commander.
