โ ๏ธ WHEN WAS YOUR TIMING BELT OR TIMING CHAIN LAST CHECKED? โ ๏ธ
One of the most expensive engine failures we see is caused by neglected timing belts and timing chains.
๐ง Timing Belts
Most manufacturers recommend replacing timing belts between 40,000 and 100,000 miles, or after a certain number of years. If a timing belt fails, it can cause severe engine damage, often costing thousands of pounds to repair.
โ๏ธ Timing Chains
Many drivers believe timing chains last forever, but unfortunately thatโs not always the case. Worn timing chains can stretch, become noisy, or fail, leading to serious engine damage if left unchecked.
Common warning signs include:
โ Rattling noises from the engine
โ Engine management lights
โ Poor performance
โ Difficult starting
โ Misfires
At Blacktop Autos, we can advise whether your vehicle is due a timing belt replacement or inspect timing chain concerns before they become costly repairs.
