This is why you don’t let your mate “have a go” at fixing exhaust studs… 😳🔧
Customer came in after the DIY repair went a little sideways.
What should’ve been a straightforward exhaust stud job turned into:
💀 Damaged threads
💀 Mangled stud
💀 Material removed where it shouldn’t be
💀 And a whole lot more work for the next person who has to fix it
The problem with exhaust studs is that “close enough” isn’t good enough. Get the alignment, thread depth or repair wrong and you can turn a simple repair into a serious machine-shop job.
Your mate might be handy with a socket set… but when you’re drilling, tapping or repairing threads in an engine, know when to leave it to someone who does it every day.
Save yourself the headache. Bring it to the shop first. 👨🔧
