We made a good decision advising a customer to have a replacement engine fitted after their van overheated on the m60, we stripped down the engine after replacement and No4 piston has melted

Customer had his thermostat housing and thermostat replaced as it was leaking, but car was still overheating, the thermostat had been fitted wrong way round and crushed the bleed valve so it had a massive air lock. Had to drill out a broken bolt and repair thread as it had been stuck on with sealant. All sorted and no overheating problems now

Nothing like helping someone out when they’ve been left in a pickle, turbo was a bit knackered to say the least but he’s back on the road now

I’ve been extremely busy the last month and not had time to post or take pictures, I’ve done a variety of jobs from servicing to brake changes, fault finding and injector replacement,engine repairs and electrical problems. I just thought I’d do one big post with some of the pics I did take.

Just a simple front pad and disc change, an hr later the rusty disc was cut off, the passenger side was straight forward at least

Replaced the engine on this corsa, supplied by the customer who had started the job already and got stuck, threw the apprentice in the deep end in his new steelies.
As we didn’t supply it we made sure it ran ok and didn’t overheat

Customer very happy to be up and running again

John crawford joinery got this lovely chap back on the road a few weeks ago, ended up replacing the fuel pump which was one of the easiest jobs I ever done, not, replaced the cambelt and rollers whilst I was there. I managed to fix a few extra faults whist I was there as quite a few parts needed removing, I properly fitted the egr valve as the bolts were loose and no gasket fitted.
I’d already done wiring checks but the van still wouldn’t start, after some more fault finding I found the fuel metering solenoid on both the replacement and old pump weren’t working on the van even though they were working on bench test, carried out output test on the ecu and they were both open circuit. Replaced the solenoid and done output test all working fine, cranked van and it fired up. Took for a nice road test, found a coolant hose had be rubbing on the engine mount where it hadn’t been fitted properly, repaired hose all ok. Very happy and shocked customer as he didn’t think it would ever work again. I must admit it was a head scratcher for me but got there eventually

Another happy customer, done a few jobs inc oil and filter change, intake valve change and cam belt, having dpf full problems assumed the intake air leak was the fault as was getting some abnormal readings from the dpf pressure sensor, carried out Carbon clean as was very choked up. Customer messaged me 2 days later whilst in Germany with a fault and I managed to diagnose the fault for him over the phone and he fixed it himself in Romania, car running perfect again and another happy customer
