We are extremely busy at the moment and the workshop & yard is full.

Adam is working to tight timeframes and is always busy diagnosing & repairing. As you may know he struggles to get to the phone, I will always do my best to answer messages and calls as quickly as possible.

If you specifically need to speak to Adam I will arrange for him to call you back as soon as he gets chance. However, please be aware that this may not always be the same day due to his workload.

We’ve had quite a few Comfort-Matic gearbox services booked in this week, and this was today’s one.

From right to left in the picture:

➡️ Oil removed from the reservoir
➡️ Initial drain of the system
➡️ Fluid after the first flush
➡️ System running clear after multiple flushes
➡️ After operating the clutch through diagnostics to dislodge trapped fluid, you can see the fluid becomes contaminated again (second tub from the left)
➡️ We then repeat the flushing and diagnostic process until the fluid is completely clean, as shown in the tub on the far left.

This particular vehicle required around 1.5 litres of fluid to be flushed through the system before we were satisfied that everything was running clean.

The van is new to its owner, who had recently requested a gearbox service elsewhere. Unfortunately, only the gearbox oil inside the transmission was changed. The hydraulic and clutch fluid were not replaced, as the garage was unsure of the procedure and advised the customer accordingly.

After seeing one of our previous posts about a Comfort-Matic gearbox service, the owner contacted us to carry out the job correctly.

It’s worth remembering that the hydraulic and clutch fluid is just as important as the gearbox oil itself. Over time it becomes contaminated and can lead to poor gear selection, clutch operation issues, and can cause further problems if left unchanged.

A valued long-term customer recently upgraded their motorhome and wanted to keep the WiFi system from their previous van. They supplied the equipment, and we were happy to install it in their new motorhome, ensuring they could stay connected wherever their travels take them.

Having recently travelled around Scotland ourselves, we know just how important reliable internet can be on the road. In many areas, our mobile phone signal was poor or unavailable, but the WiFi system in our van continued to work throughout the trip with multiple devices connected at the same time.

When we posted this back in February we had 200 followers, with our social media efforts and customers recommending us we are now over 1,000 followers. So let’s reintroduce the main man himself - Adam.

Meet Adam 👋

For those of you who may not know him, Adam is the owner of A2B Motorhome Services and the driving force behind the business. His journey began at just 16 years old, starting out as an apprentice at a garage in Ellesmere. By the age of 21, Adam had already qualified as an MOT tester, showing early on his dedication and passion for the trade.

At 22, Adam took a leap of faith, leaving his full-time role in Ellesmere to become self-employed in the Prees area. Working from a smaller workshop at first, the business quickly went from strength to strength, outgrowing its original space. By the age of 24, Adam had a purpose-built workshop on the same site which is where we are today. A huge milestone and a testament to his hard work and reputation.

Now, 10 years on, Adam specialises in all things motorhomes and campervans, with an extensive knowledge of them inside and out. He is known for delivering reliable workmanship, with honesty and trust at the heart of everything he does.

When he’s not in the workshop, Adam loves spending time with his wife and three children. His “happy place” is his touring caravan, where he enjoys making memories, watching the children embrace the outdoors, and doing what they do best - being feral.

If you own a Fiat Ducato with a 9 speed automatic (2020 model - 2025) it’s important not to overlook gearbox servicing.

Many people class these gearboxes as “lifetime oil”, but we recommend servicing them every 5 years or 60,000 miles - whichever comes first.

As you can see from the clips, the difference between the old and new oil is significant. This particular vehicle was only 6 years old and had covered just 33,000 miles, yet the oil condition clearly showed contamination and wear over time.

A lot of gearbox services are carried out using a simple drain and refill method, which only replaces around 2.8–3 litres of oil. With the gearbox holding approximately 6 litres in total, this means nearly half of the old oil remains trapped inside the torque converter.

Using our servicing technique, we’re able to replace the majority of the oil by flushing nearly 7 litres through the system. We then carry out a final level check using diagnostic software and the correct dipstick setting tool to ensure the gearbox is filled accurately.

These gearboxes also contain an internal oil filter which is sealed inside the unit and requires full gearbox disassembly to replace - making regular oil changes even more important for long-term reliability and performance.

We only use genuine ZF oil, supplied by ZF Friedrichshafen AG - the manufacturer of the gearbox itself.

We’ll soon be adding this service as part of our fixed-price service packages, so keep an eye on the page for updates.

Selling on behalf of a very good friend — 2012 VW Golf 2.0 TDI with 104,000 miles. £3,495.

A very clean and well looked after car both inside and out, and it will come with a fresh MOT for the new owner. The car has always been regularly serviced and maintained, with the last 3–4 years looked after by ourselves.

Recent work carried out includes:
• Clutch & flywheel replaced early last year
• New suspension arms fitted
• New pads & discs fitted earlier this year

This Golf has always had whatever it’s needed and has been properly cared for throughout ownership. Only being sold as they’ve now upgraded to a new electric car.

A solid, reliable and economical car that drives exactly as it should.

What touring sites would you recommend across the UK? 🚐

We absolutely love Cornwall for a longer UK break - the coastal views, little harbour towns and the campsites we have been to have been pretty amazing.

Any recommendations down that way? Or hidden gems elsewhere in the UK we should add to our list? 👀👇
