🚐 Ford Transit 2.2 TDCi – Cold Start Diesel Knock Fixed with Ford FDRS

This 2016 Ford Transit 2.2 was suffering from a known Ford issue where the engine produced a noticeable diesel knock/clatter on cold starts. The noise would gradually reduce as the engine warmed up, often leading owners to suspect injector or engine problems.

After carrying out a full diagnostic assessment, we confirmed the vehicle matched a known Ford software-related concern and that an updated calibration was available from Ford.

Using Ford’s official FDRS (Ford Diagnostic & Repair System), we attended the vehicle at the customer’s location and carried out the update completely mobile.

✅ Full vehicle health check completed
✅ Confirmed the fault matched a known Ford software issue
✅ Connected a stabilised power supply during programming
✅ Downloaded and installed the latest Ford calibration files
✅ Carried out post-programming checks and verification
✅ Cold-start diesel knock significantly reduced following the update

This is a great example of how modern vehicles can often be repaired with manufacturer software updates rather than replacing expensive parts unnecessarily.

As a SERMI-approved independent specialist, we have access to the manufacturer systems required to carry out these updates safely and correctly.
