At the end of an extraordinary week for Apollo Motor Group Ltd, Gareth Newbery, National sales manager for Repairify travelled in excess of a 300-mile round trip to support 3 of our apprentice MET technicians and to showcase the capabilities of his asTech Digital ADAS Calibration Unit at our Apollo Portsmouth site. Iona Airzee (Apollo Prestige), Brandon Curtis (Apollo Swindon) and George Porter Savage(Apollo Portsmouth) were offered the unique opportunity to personally sample the full capabilities of the system. During the interactive demonstration from Gareth, all 3 apprentices gained invaluable 1-2-1 tuition,technical support, knowledge and skills to raise their confidence with Lidar, Radar and 360-degree vehicle camera calibration.

A huge Thank You is passed from Apollo to Gareth Newbery and Repairify for the difference and contributions they have made to our business and Apollo’s young team of tomorrow!!!

Apollo Motor Group Ltd supported by one of their respected vehicle Paint surface refinishing specialists (Farécla)appreciated the fantastic achievements of Owen Kimber (Apollo Portsmouth Paint Apprentice) for being the first apprentice in the group to record in excess of 1000 hours of “Off the job hours” of new learning during his 3 year apprenticeship with Thatcham Research Academy.
Owen was rewarded for his success with his Farécla branded equipment presented by Bodyshop manager (Andy Lamont) and Owen’s Paint specialist mentor (Shaun Harris). Special thanks goes out to Mike Fuller(Apollo Technical support Manager) and Farécla for their contributions.

Derek Robinson has reached an amazing milestone of 34 years of continuous employment with Apollo Motor Group. Derek has shown exemplary commitment to the automotive repair sector and Apollo where he commenced his employment as a Paint technician before being promoted to Paint shop supervisor, Vehicle Quality Controller and Workshop controller. Derek has spread his knowledge, skills and vast motor vehicle repair experience across many of our sites that include Apollo Portsmouth, Apollo Chichester and now Apollo Southampton. He is a fantastic advocate for Apollo and our industry where quality, attention to detail and customer care is never compromised.
Congratulations Derek on your extraordinary achievement from all of your "Apollo Family" - Well Done!!!!!

Apollo Motor Group and Springfield school (Portsmouth Hampshire) engaged on the Apollo academy work experience programme,as this has a vital role in preparing young people to negotiate the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly complex world. Our work experience programme in partnership with local schools and colleges provide real work experiences to support young peoples personal development while encouraging them to build on both social and employability skills demanded by our industry. Riley Daysh Barbour Year 11 student from Springfield school, sampled various tasks in our Portsmouth accident repair centre to improve his ability to make his career judgement from his experiences while raising employability skills. Riley engaged with Apollo Motor Group during a 2022 National Apprenticeship careers event held at Fratton Park , Portsmouth. This was followed up with a visit to Apollo Portsmouth for a tour of a modern and highly equipped accident repair centre and subsequently our work experience programme. On completion of his highly successful work experience whilst showing exceptional commitment to the industry and natural abilities, Riley was offered a Paint apprenticeship by Apollo which will commence when he completes his schooling in July 2023.

The 16th NAW celebrations continued for Apollo Motor Group throughout the week, where yesterday, Chris Dore ( Apollo Group operations Director), Rosie Smith( Apollo Paint Apprentice), Mike Fuller ( Apollo Technical support manager) and Jim Swann( Apollo Academy Development manager) had the pleasure to attend the "National Levy Payers Network event" held at Paulton's Park, Southampton after receiving their invite from Jodie Edmunds (The apprenticeship team, Southampton City Council). In addition to Claire Froggatt( LSIP programme Director), Emma Barrett (Itchen College) and Ed Hart taking the stage to discuss and present the skills needs in our region, sector-based work Academy programmes(SWAP) and an insight into Digital badging our very own Rosie Smith ( Apollo Paint apprentice) gave an inspiring account of her apprenticeship with Apollo Basingstoke and a personal account of how she overcame the obstacles in a predominantly male dominated industry with support and guidance from her Apollo family.
