๐Ÿš— PRIVATE PRACTICE: HELP YOUR LEARNER STAY SAFE

If youโ€™re supervising a learner driver in their own car, having an additional interior rear-view mirror allows you to monitor the road behind without relying on the learnerโ€™s mirror.

Itโ€™s a simple, inexpensive safety aidโ€”and an extra interior mirror for the examiner is required if the learner plans to take their driving test in their own car.

Small blind-spot mirrors can also improve visibility down the sides of the vehicle, helping the learner judge positioning, clearance and nearby traffic more effectively.

Remember, blind-spot mirrors are only an additional aid. Learners must still carry out proper mirror checks and physically check their blind spots before moving off or changing position.

A few inexpensive additions can make private practice safer and help prepare the car for test day.

Getting a practical driving test is still one of the biggest challenges facing learners, so hereโ€™s the latest picture for some of our local DVSA test centres.

๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Jack! ๐ŸŽ‰

A huge congratulations to Jack on passing his practical driving test first time yesterday with an excellent result of just 2 driver faults! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿš—

To top it off, the examiner also had some really positive comments about Jack's driving โ€“ always great feedback to receive and a reflection of the safe, confident driver he's become.

Enjoy the freedom of being out on the roads, drive safely, and make the most of your new licence.

One final thing... I hope you've finally cleaned your car now! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Congratulations again, Jack! Wishing you many years of safe and happy motoring. ๐Ÿš—๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿš— A Friendly Reminder for Learner Drivers & Supervisors ๐Ÿš—

Over the last 24 hours, I've witnessed two situations that are worth highlighting. I spoke to both the learner drivers and their accompanying supervisors, not to criticise them, but to help keep everyone safe and ensure they stay within the law.

๐Ÿ“ Supervising a learner?
If you're acting as the supervising driver, you must be inside the vehicle with the learner at all times. Standing outside the car and directing them into a parking space is not permitted.

๐Ÿ“ Practising in a private car park?
Many people think locations such as supermarket or train station car parks don't count. However, if the public has access to them, they are generally treated as public places for road traffic law. This means L plates must be displayed, and all learner driving rules still apply.

These rules aren't there to catch people outโ€”they're there to protect learners, supervisors and everyone else around them.

If you're supervising a learner and you're ever unsure about the rules, please take a few minutes to check them. A little knowledge can prevent unnecessary risks, fines or insurance issues.

Stay safe, drive legally, and enjoy helping the next generation of drivers gain valuable experience. ๐Ÿš˜
