Some more up to date stuff this week with the riveting up of the Series 1 Lotus 7. Rivets are Tucker Monel Pop as original code TLPD 530 on these cars as there's only 2 sheets of material and washers to go through. The washers are 4mm stainless rather than the original corrosion prone plated steel, these are slightly slack which allows the rivet to pull up properly without binding and gripping the washer first. The washers are put on belled face down as this pulls them flat rather than leave a raised edge. We use an aircraft isolating compound on the bottom tubes prior to fitting the floor as an added protection against corrosion. As usual, all panel and chassis holes are deburred prior to fitting. That's about it for now, thanks for looking, Tone.

The first post for a while due to Covid. It was suggested I post this as something a little different from 2010. The photos show a rebuilt steel floor pan from a Messerschmitt KR200 that was supplied to us by a client for the rest of the body to be built in aluminium instead of the all steel original. The photos show the early stages with the front wings, headlamp pods and the 2 halves of the front panel. Thanks for looking, Tone.

A bit of an improvised post of current stuff on the Series 1 Lotus Seven. Front suspension dummied up to 'tune' the wing stays and a shot of the breather catch tank that's been made for this car. Thanks for looking, Tone.

Back to 2009 again for some detail shots of the Lotus XI that I last posted in December. Just really showing internal panels and water system detail as the car was nearing completion. Hopefully some current stuff next time with not such a big gap between posts. Thanks for looking, Tone.

This week some more up to date stuff from the run up to Christmas. The Lotus Mk6 chassis has been powder coated and the original repaired panels checked for fitting, that's as far as we go with this one, it'll be assembled elsewhere. The other shots are of the Lotus 7 Series 1 cockpit panels now finished, shown part formed about 3 weeks ago. I've also shown a detail shot of the correct rivet pattern for the tunnel. That's about it for now, thanks for looking, Tone.
