🇪🇸 A long way from home… and unfortunately, not quite ready to head back just yet! 🔧🚛

Last week we had some visitors all the way from Spain arrive with a few mechanical headaches — an alternator and driveshaft decided they needed some attention. 😅

With a delay in getting the required parts delivered, we made sure our customers were kept as comfortable as possible outside the workshop while we got everything sorted.

Parts eventually arrived, repairs were completed, and our Spanish travellers were back on the road and continuing their journey. 🇪🇸➡️🇬🇧➡️🏁

It’s not always about fixing the vehicle — sometimes it’s about looking after the people in it too! 👍

Safe travels, and hopefully the rest of the journey is a little less eventful! 😄

Another classic ready for the road! 🚗✨

Rob’s Workshop went mobile today… 🔧

Today’s job was something a little special — a rare 1949 Jewett Javelin. Cars like this don’t come around often, and keeping them running right is what it’s all about.

She’d start, but wouldn’t idle cleanly and was only running on a few cylinders, so we went through and gave her a proper service and tune-up. Checked ignition, fuel delivery, lines, lights and brakes to make sure everything was working as it should.

After a bit of fettling, she’s now starting on the button and driving properly again 👌

Nothing better than hearing an old four-cylinder smooth out and come back to life.

This week at Rob’s Workshop – a proper bit of old-school Mercedes engineering in with two W124s 🔧

First up, 260E with poor running and inconsistent idle. Hooked up the pressure gauge set and found system pressure was within range, but residual pressure was dropping off too quickly after shutdown – pointing straight at a failing fuel accumulator. Replaced the accumulator and re-tested, which restored correct pressure retention.

While running checks, we also noted uneven cylinder contribution. Pulled and tested injectors – one showed poor spray pattern and slight dribble rather than proper atomisation. Replaced the injector, balanced the set, and rechecked idle and throttle response. Now running clean, stable idle and smooth through the rev range as KE-Jet should.

Second, 300CE – a car we previously recommissioned after 14 years laid up. Back in now for preservation and usability work. Carried out full underbody prep and underseal to protect solid structure going forward.

Fuel sender unit replaced due to inaccurate level readings – common issue with wear/corrosion on the internal tracks. Gauge now reading correctly across the range.

Also carried out a few subtle 12v upgrades, including fused USB integration, keeping everything tidy and in-keeping with the original loom while making the car more usable day-to-day.

Good to be working on cars where the priority is keeping them in the best possible condition for the long term 👍

Another great result in the workshop this week 🔧

A beautiful Rover 75 Turbo came in with a serious blue smoke issue. After diagnosing the problem, we replaced the turbo and carried out a full oil and coolant service.

Safe to say she’s now running spot on and back to her best 💨✨
