If you own a Maserati Levante with around 50,000 miles on the clock, this is something you need to see 👀
Myles is investigating a common but serious issue with the 3.0L petrol models, an engine knocking noise that could be a ticking time bomb.
After removing the cam cover and essentials, the culprit?
A plastic timing chain tensioner snapped in half, causing the chain to rub against metal and go loose.
The chain then jumps, and here's the kicker, the broken plastic fragments drop into the sump, which Myles believes is a major cause of oil starvation problems.
Once oil flow is compromised, things get expensive real quick.
The bottom line: If your Levante is approaching the 50,000–60,000 mile mark, booking it in for a tensioner and timing chain inspection could save you from a catastrophic engine failure.
Prevention is always cheaper than a rebuild.
