TYRE OF THE WEEK
Customer said his tyres are really noisy which is not surprising considering that there was NO air in this runflat tyre along with a 5 inch open gash on the inner edge

TYRE OF THE WEEK
We had this one yesterday, Customer said he hit something in the road, With the damaged caused and the fact that this tyre is a runflat type tyre, which has a super strength sidewall, you have to think what it was he hit !!!
He said he did not know what it was

TYRE OF THE WEEK
Our effort this week is one from a roadside call out for a BMW on the A31 with the customer stating that he had no problem and was just driving along when he suddenly lost pressure, From the pictures you can see that he had wore the tyre down to the air and also you can see the number of layers of the tyre casing that had been worn through, including the steel belts, This doesn't just happen overnight so the tyre should have been replaced along time ago and he was lucky it was a fairly stable release of the air instead of a blowout which could have caused a far worse outcome. The more concerning thing was that the other tyre was also in a bad state, not quite to this level, and it was pointed out to the driver who chose not to have it replaced as well instead saying he would get a part worn tyre fitted when he got back to Luton, I don't know if he made it there though

Not one of ours this week, It is from the Police,
No Tread !

The Tyre Internals just about hanging on, Still inflated but ready to blow at anytime which could be -
Whilst parked !
At 5MPH !
At 70MPH !
On a straight road !
Whilst going round a bend !
Who knows !!!
Especially in this type of heat
Its important to check your tyres and pressures regularly even more so if you undertaking long journeys
We get multiple calls to attend to stranded motorists roadside with flat tyres, A LOT OF THEM PREVENTABLE, and we know that punctures and potholes happen regardless of however often you check
BUT don't get stuck because of simply not checking your tyres or dealing with a longstanding puncture issue, It will let you down at the worst time and place, Almost guaranteed.
If your unsure then come into us and we will check and inflate them for you

And whilst your at it check you oil and water levels as well

TYRE(S) OF THE WEEK / AND AGAIN ! & AGAIN !!
Here are 2 tyres off of a motorhome, 1 that blew out and a 2nd that was about to blow. The customer told us he bought the motorhome some 18 months ago from a motorhome/camper van dealer who put 4 new tyres on prior to them taking the vehicle BUT there are some motorhomes, this being one of them, that require a specific type of tyre called a CP or CAMPING tyre. The reason for this is that the tyre pressures for this vehicle needs to be extremely higher than what the normal tyres can handle and this is shown by the tyre close to blowing in that the casing of the tyre is under stress due to the pressure and will give at some point. The dealer should have been aware of this fact but because the CP or Camping tyre can be a lot more expensive than a cheaper option, the dealer may have chosen these to save themselves some money BUT they put the buyers at risk as a result.
We replaced the tyres with the correct CP tyres and the customer is going to return to the dealer about the remaining 2 on the motorhome. For those who have a motorhome but may be unsure as to whether there vehicle should have CP or CAMPING tyres fitted the main clue would be that the manual or tyre pressure label on the door frame of the vehicle would state that the rear tyres be set at between 75 to 80 psi or 4.5 to 5 bar of pressure! If so, then CP or CAMPING TYRES are needed.

Whilst compiling this post a 2nd motorhome came into our Poole depot with the same problem and weirdly the same make and size of tyres had been fitted, not that the make matters as it was purely down to the wrong type of tyres fitted, So I am adding the photos of these and 1 of them has all the steel wire from the tyre casing coming out of the tyre itself

EXTRA
Just after I posted the above we had yet another motorhome in for a blown out tyre however this one did not need the CP or Camping type tyres, the problem with this was that it was an old tyre (2009) which was perished and even though the tread depth was still very good it was the perishing that was the issue (photos added below). Motorhomes and caravans need the tyres changed about every 5/6 years because off the lack of mileage that they usually do, nearly every motorhome and caravan tyre blowout we change roadside is because of the age problems.
We ended up changing all 4 tyres as they were all 2009/10
Check your tyres before your journey if you don't use them very often or bring it to us and we will inspect them for you

TYRE OF THE WEEK
Customers tyre was losing air but they managed to get the car to Bere Regis services only to find that the air machine was out of order and were told the next place to get some would be at Wimborne services about 9 miles farther on, As it was low they thought best get there as fast as they could but the lack of air meant the tyre got hotter quicker and it blew about 2 miles short of the services, Luckily we had a tyre and Liam had him back on his way within an hour.
