Powerful Motor Tug ‘JML Osprey’ has joined the Jenkins Marine fleet. The vessel is a newer more powerful version of the 2509 Damen Shoalbuster, a more modern replacement for our former Tug “DMS Condor” which we recently sold and has since sailed away to her new owners in the Caribbean. Whilst we wish Condor well on her new adventures, this is part of our planned approach to continual fleet upgrades and improvement.

We were asked to assist an emergency salvage operation this week, when a powerboat got into difficulty near Sandbanks.

The Vintage powerboat Apache 555, built in 1969, was competing in the “Poole Bay 100” when a suspected debris strike caused a large hole in the boat’s hull and it started taking on water fast.

Our dredging team have been keeping busy through the winter months and into the spring! Their latest dredging project has seen them working in Newhaven on the South Coast.

The team have been working for Newhaven Marina to complete a significant capital dredge of the marina, helping to unlock its future potential. This has been coordinated with work from other contractors involved in reconfiguring the pontoon and pile layout within the marina.

We were delighted to be awarded the contract to dredge the Portsmouth Offshore Group’s Weevil Lake Marina site. This was a large dredging job involving the removal of some 10,000m3 of spoil funded and organised by POG themselves. The project required the removal of all the yachts, pontoons and other infastructure for our work. Only the piles remained, still providing a tricky navigation test for our crews.

We are excited to announce the addition of a new flat top pontoon barge “JML5019” to our pontoon fleet, boasting an impressive total deck capacity/deadweight of 1,700t.

JML5019 is wider than many other similar barges at 18.9m meaning it can accommodate a crawler crane up to 300t comfortably.
