A little personal project between jobs. With Max returning to work in October after her maternity leave I wanted to make her a “Back to Work” bag. So I’ve put together this waxed canvas backpack for her in Khaki green with a yellow lining. There’s a few nice little details including the octopus zip pulls and mustard straps.

I’ll be making Sully a matching nursery bag in the teal waxed canvas you can see in the background and then myself a pair of panniers for my bike so that I have enough room for getting Sully to Nursery on the bike.

All materials from Country Cow Designs - Modern Sewing Patterns bar the lining which is from Point North Profabrics.

That’s Ben’s bus all finished up over the weekend. Original Westfalia continental roof bed recovered and a new head cushion and board made up as his was missing this. I’ve also made a back cushion for the little jump seat.

Chuffed with how this one has turned out.

Over to Ben’s this afternoon to fit his door cards, passenger seat and buddy box, and his bus Wilma is now looking even more sharp!

I’ve also made him an extra cushion for the bed to level it out as his Isofix bracket has meant the bed needed adapting.

Just the drivers seat and roof bed to bring back over the weekend now.

I’m making good progress on Ben’s Westfalia interior. Front seat and headrest covers all made up and the passenger seat built up (I’m picking up the drivers seat next week so that Ben isn’t without a seat for too long). And the buddy box lid reupholstered to match.
I love this striking orange and white combo!

I’m slowly getting the rest of the garden into a more presentable state, with some nice sleepers to break up the slope and some Dorset limestone chippings on the footpaths for a maintenance free and clean look.
These warm summer nights we’ve been having have been lovely down the cabin with just me, the dog and whatever happens to be on my upholstery table at the time.
I’m just about to start on another westy interior this month in some fantastically bright colours too. 🤩

Something I’ve been considering for a while now is getting myself along to a few shows next year as a trader to show you lot in person what Ray Ley Restorations is all about.

So I’m pulling together some sample cushions to give everyone some ideas on what direction they could go with their upholstery.

I’m hoping I’ll be able to bring along some ready made seat covers, some demonstrator seats and door cards as well as keyrings, tool rolls, headliners and potentially some bags too. Is there anything specific you’d be interested in me displaying?

Watch this space!

Paul has fitted the seats I reupholstered for him to the Cabrio.

The black vinyl looks great against the bright yellow paintwork and really helps bring the project together.
