Had this little peugeot partner in last week for various engine control faults. This one had been to other places but needed a good looking at.

Found 3 fault codes for additive tank open circuit, lin bus to additive tank faulty and alternator lin bus fault.

First things first its out with the scope to analyse the lin bus signal at the alternator, which tested good, so back to the additive tank to check the signal there. All good at the tank unit too. Checked all powers and grounds to the tank unit and all good. Tried to erase the codes which left me with just additive tank open circuit. After unplugging you can see someone had butchered the plug going to it.

Dropped the tank down to check it and the whole of the front fell off exposing the control unit I side. After checking the tank all over I could see it was an aftermarket tank unit. We would only ever advise a genuine unit so that it rules out any question marks so we got a new tank ordered and luckily I keep spare plugs in stock.

Repinned the plug and fitted new housing, refilled up the additive tank, refitted all and erased all codes.
Success, all codes stayed cleared after road test and now the van can go out and be able to regenerate it's dpf as and when it needs to.

This was an interesting jobs in had never done before for a local removals firm, for the tail gate not working.
No diagrams or info on how this worked it was a case of reverse engineering and tracing out wiring to figure out how it all worked.
Quickly worked out there was a power problem. There was meant to be a 12v feed at the push button switch which it did have but when pressed the lower dropped to 0 volts. With a scout around underneath the can and I found someone had previously just cut through the outer casing of the main power wire and the copper had rotten. A quick solder up and shrink wrap and it was all done.
All tested and ready to go.

Just wanted to give a massive shout out to my lads Aidan and Glenn. These boys are bloody fab and work really hard, this week has been especially busy and they always turn up and give it their all.

The pics are from Glenn working on a peugeot partner with multiple engine ecu faults for short to ground on 5 voltage regulator 2. This isn't Glenn's favourite kinda job but he smashed it and dialed it down to the thermostat motor position sensor shorted to ground and back feeding the ecu.
New genuine thermostat assembly fitted, coolant system bled and tested and all done.

The injector pics from Aidans job of removing injectors on a vw T6 with high crank case pressure and signs of oil weeping at injector seals. He removed injectors and you can see the gritty carbon all up the stems of the injectors. Its good to get these checked and cylinder head seats cut flat again and new bolts and washers before this becomes a massive issue.
These tend to blow out the washers and build carbon underneath the rocker cover where no one can see and the carbon will drop into the sump and block the oil pick up. Causing oil pressure issues.

Again back to the beginning and a massive thanks to these boys, we make a cracking team together, and hopefully we can keep smashing the diagnostics and repairs out for years to come.

Hopefully saved this lady some money on this job.

We had a phone call from Claire to ask to price a head gasket replacement on a Renault scenic 1.6 2012.

On speaking to her on the phone she described head gasket symptoms like oil in the water etc and my brain started ticking.

I though back to years ago and remembered these have a place where the coolant meets the oil, the thermostat housing.
A quick Google of an engine proved that these cars don't have an oil cooler as such behind the oil filter but the thermostat housing passes oil through one section and coolant in the other.
I asked the right questions and found out she also had an oil leak on the gearbox end of the engine.

We got her in asap, gave her the loaner honda jazz and got to it.

As you can see in the pics the seals in the housing were shot and the oil and water had mixed.

We got a complete new aftermarket housing as that was all that was available quickly and at the right price for her budget and got it fitted, washed down, flushed the coolant system, cleaned out the coolant tank and back on the road.
With the advice to keep an eye on the oil level and coolant and return for another flush in a 1000 miles.

Time will tell with this one but hopefully have done the right job for the right money.

Have been using the guys from Auto Cleanse in Totnes recently for dpf cleaning and they have been spot on, with same day pick up, clean, delivery and great service.

Hi everyone just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of our brilliant customers, friends,family, colleagues and suppliers old and new. August this year marks our 10 years🎉 of the doors being open and the cars coming and going. It's mad that it has gone so quick. There's 4 of us in the workshop now keeping things flowing as quickly as these complicated cars will let us. With myself, Glenn, Aidan, and Callum we have a strong team now and it's been brilliant working on all sorts of different and challenging jobs. We have built up our tooling resources and now have a fair few of the main dealers diagnostic equipment so can offer programming and fault finding on many vehicles Including
Vw
Audi
Sokda
SEAT
BMW
Mercedes
Ford
Peugeot
Citroen
Toyota, and a few others. With Bosch as our main every day diagnostics it really helps to be able to have the right information to test your vehicles. All of this wouldn't be possible without our lovely customers so a massive thanks again to you all, here's some pics of some of the weird and wonderful jobs we have been doing lately

As its new years eve I would like to thank all of our lovely customers, friends, family and all those who support us though the years. It will be 12 years this year since the doors opened at All car solutions and I am so proud that we are still here. I couldn't do it without the great lads Glenn Austin and Aidan Edmonds who just smash it out and dig in all the time to get the complicated jobs that we do here done.
Without you guys as ours customers we wouldn't still be going so a massive thank you to you and I hope we can continue to fix up the cars that you all have in the future. Here's some pics of the jobs we've got through this year from wiring to programming and engine repairs with some out of the box thinking that is required some times.
We wish you all a great year ahead and hope to see you soon.

Got to thank Mark from draintech for this interesting welding job. It turned out to be a beast of a job with new inner rear arches, flooring, door step, chassis and inner sills. It took a long time to do but really enjoyed the job. All done in 1.2 mm steel even the sills.all finished in raptor tinted with frozen white to try and get the original look. Thanks dude

We have been open for 10 years now and can't believe how quickly it has gone. Have really enjoyed all the jobs we get stuck into and am looking forward to more next year.
