Lots of clutch and gearbox changes have been through the workshop recently.

A lovely Scirocco TDI which came in as a non-runner.

A quick check over shown the auxiliary belt had broken up into pieces and unfortunately wrapped itself behind the outer crank pulley and jumped the cambelt timing.

It had broken most rocker arms, a few tappets and bent the exhaust valves. After replacing all valves, tappets and rockers, skimming the head and fitting a genuine headgasket etc the car ran as good as new.

A couple bad filters this week with a new one beside them in the second image for comparison. Going 33000 miles overdue on the service schedule is certainly not recommended.

Mercedes C220cdi with a glow plug warning lamp illuminated on cold starts

After confirming no feed was being sent to the glow plug and there was continuity from the glow plug module to the glow plug itself, a replacement module was fitted.

After confirming everything was working correctly and the engine was healthy we added a stage one remap to improve drivability and economy

Catastrophic headgasket failure.

This Peugeot came in with a misfire, after plenty of time running several tests it became clear the headgasket had failed between the water gallery and the cylinder. I have never seen a gasket this bad before.

The car left running as good as new and ready for the customers driving test. Good luck!

Bmw 118d with a broken timing chain

This car came in as a non start and you could hear it had no compression, after removing the gearbox and lifting the engine out to expose the timing chains at the rear of the engine it was clear that one chain had snapped.

A full new timing chain kit along with an oil and filter and the car is running as good as new once again.
