Rallye Green Skoda Fabia with a front RADAR fault.

After a closer inspection the bracket had started to perish and the Radar was bouncing around aswell as the cover wasnt holding on properly due to missing a fastner on one side.

New parts ordered and fitted. Thrust angle checked wand front toe adjusted.

Because this is an older design radar its manually adjusted via the 2 adjustmemt screws which the diagnostic software tells you what to do.
Road test complete and back to the customer.

I got to use my new tool on this Audi Q3 after a bumper replacement.

After checking the thrust angle is within tollerance I could then setup up the kit.

Its called a Doppler and is used to calibrate Blind Spot Assist. Its the grey box on the stand.
This is set to a specific set of measurements from the rear axle in 3 axis.
Once switched on it helps to calibrate the radars behind your bumper detection high and low radio frequencies. the higher the frequency the closer the object. the lower the frequency the further away the object.

We had something a little special in for wheel alignment last week.
A beautiful Volcano Red McLaren 720s!
These are notorious for knocking the alignment out and with such tight tollerances it doesnt take a lot.
Front and rear toe adjusted giving a thrust angle of zero, and steer ahead of zero. Should keep it handling as the manufacturer intended.

We had this huge Audi A8 in with a fault with the Windscreen camera.

The fault popped up after a very well known window company tried to complete a dynamic calibration. You would expect them to know better and that all VAG group vehicle have static calibrations.

Needless to say they couldnt fix the issue without the correct equipment to do so.

Quick thrust angle check and straight onto the calibration itself.

Another customer in and out same day with a presicion ADAS calibration and their vehicle back to factory settings.

This customer brought us his Suzuki S-cross after the dash board brought up a collision system warning.

Quick thrust angle check on the Absolute Alignment Rotary wheel alignment system and we could jump straight into it.

We are still not sure why this happened but after a Lidar and RADAR calibration the warning stopped.

We road test every vehicle extensively after calibration checking the lane keep assist, active cruise control and various other ADAS related components to ensure the vehicle is safe to relaease to the customer.

We need to have a controlled environment on a level floor with adequite space and lighting, but not too bright, to ensure we calibrate to the highest tolerances.

We dont calibrate in carparks outside your work place like many of the mobile guys do. We do it properly as vehicle manufacturers and OEM repair proceedures dictate and take your safety seriously.

Toyota Hilux dropped off from Dan at CH Render - Independent 4x4 Specialist, Used Vehicles and Servicing requiring a front RADAR calibration after the front grille was removed and the RADAR disconnected.

It took up all available space!! 5 metres of clear space required for the calibration to work. I even had to cover up the rear lights check mirror so there was no reflective metal objects the RADAR could see.

As you will notice all calibrations are measured from the rear axle and this is why a geometry thrust angle check is so important. If the rear axle is out of manufacturers tolerance then any calibration we do will not be correct leading to the safety systems looking in the wrong direction.

VW Grafter initially came for RADAR calibration.
After further investigation when it wouldnt even let us initiate the calibration we found that the RADR itself had been stolen from the vehicle.
Number plate had been removed, the bumper cut and then the RADAR removed. Bumper pushed back into place and then number plate refitted.

A new RADAR is £1200+VAT!!

At this point we didnt have the Megamacs Remote so we couldnt plug in to Hella Gutmann back in Banbury and get them to code the RADAR using OEM software. Unfortunatly this went to the main dealer.

Luckily we now have this ability and have used it multiple times already on many different brands. Saving the customeras main dealer prices.

Porsche 911 in for front RADAR and windscreen Lidar calibration. With the VAG group vehicles they usually like to be done together rather than just calibrating the one.
Some will direct you the Lidar first even if you only wanted to calibrate the RADAR.

Return customer in with his VW Golf.
Front RADAR calibration required after the customer some how deleted the data from the vehicle when playing around with their new Autel scanning tool!

Pre scan done, calibration completed and on to a road test to ensure everything is working as it should. Rescan once back to the unit to ensure everything is OK.

Another happy customer.
