🏁2026 VOLY Grampian Forest Rally — FINISHERS! 🏁

What a weekend! After Friday night’s puncture dropped us down to 74th overall and 13th in class, today was all about pushing hard and clawing our way back up the leaderboard. 💪

The first two stages of the morning were a little challenging. Some odd behaviour from the rear suspension saw a few awkward landings lead to some double-bounces from the rear end over yumps, which knocked Cameron confidence a tad, so we backed off slightly through the faster-paced sections and concentrated on pushing hard in the corners. But with every stage, Cameron and Connor confidence grew and the pace started coming back. 🔥

Coming out of final service, we had a look at the class and worked out where we fancied slotting ourselves in… 13 seconds was the gap needed to jump two positions.

So, we went for it. 👊

A big push through the final two stages, especially the last one, saw us grab the two positions we were chasing — and even increase the gap behind us to 21 seconds! 👍👌🏾 6th in class and 55th overall in the bag too

A massive thanks to Ashleigh for getting out of the way so quickly when we caught her in the final stage — much appreciated! 🙌

Most importantly, we’ve finished the Grampian Forest Rally and brought the car home. A brilliant feeling after the disappointment of the border counties and three previous attempts of the Grampian.

A huge thank you to the organisers, marshals, stage setup crews and everyone behind the scenes who put on such a fantastic event. 👏

📝 Connor — superb job on the notes all weekend and great to get a finish under your belt as a navigator. 🍻

🔧 Mack, Archie & Charlie — another brilliant job in service keeping everything running and giving us the confidence to push. 💪

And finally, a massive THANK YOU to all our sponsors for their continued support:

🏁 DAY 2 — GRAMPIAN FOREST RALLY 🏁

Two stages completed last night, but unfortunately SS2 brought an early puncture for Cameron and Connor. With the clock ticking, the decision was made to drive the stage through on the puncture to limit the time loss and keep the rally on track. 💪

A new day brings a fresh challenge, and both Cameron and Connor are looking forward to getting back out there and taking on the stages ahead. 🌲🏁

A huge thank you to all our sponsors for their continued support — we couldn’t do it without you! 👏

Not a post Cameron thought he’d be writing 90 days ago after our Border Counties Rally ended abruptly.

But we’ve made it to the Lombard Rally at Brechin Castle! 🫶💖

After hundreds of hours of work from Brian and Mack, along with everyone else who gave up their time, equipment, and expertise, the cars is back.

Thanks also to PJM for his fabrication skills and to George Gauld for the use of the Race Shuttle to transport the car when it had fresh paint and not a window or door fitted!

A special thanks to all of our 'rally widows' who haven't seen much of us this last few weeks as we have been in the shed to nearly midnight!

Against all odds, both Brian’s and Cameron’s cars are here this weekend (there’s still some wet yellow paint in places! 😅).

The event is already filling up with spectators, which is fantastic to see. If you are here please spectate in a safe place!

If you’re looking for something to do, pop along to Brechin Castle and come watch the cars in action!

A huge thank you also goes to our sponsors for their continued support and belief in us, even when things went a little upside down at our last outing:

Saturday saw Connor make a return to the Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship, marking his first competitive outing since receiving an ECU upgrade with the assistance of MB Garage Services & Motorsport.

Unfortunately, the day didn’t get off to the best of starts. As Connor and co-driver Duncan headed towards the opening stage, when the clutch pedal suddenly went straight to the floor. The crew were forced back to service, resulting in a significant time penalty before they’d even had the chance to get properly underway.

Despite the setback and a hefty penalty hanging over them, the boys in service worked hard to get the car back out for the remaining stages. While any hopes of a strong overall result had effectively disappeared, Connor and Duncan were determined to make the most of the day and use the event to assess the latest upgrades.

The positives certainly outweighed the negatives. Stage times showed a clear improvement over last year’s event, proving that the ECU upgrade has delivered exactly what was hoped for. Even with the massive penalty, the crew fought their way from 53rd to finish 43rd overall – an impressive effort considering the circumstances.

A huge thank you goes to Cameron for all the hard work and dedication in getting the ECU setup running perfectly. Thanks also to Dad and Mack, who are always on the spanners keeping the car going, even when the old knees are starting to remind them they’ve done this a few times before! 👨‍🔧🔧

And of course, special mention has to go to our lead mechanic young Charlie, who was undoubtedly the happiest member of the team all day. His management style mainly consists of handing out lollipops and snacks, but somehow he still manages to keep everyone in line! 🍭😄

As always, a massive thank you to Connors sponsors who assisted his upgrade and constant support throughout the season… and of course all the marshals, organisers and volunteers who make these events possible and delivered another cracking rally.

Now it’s time to look ahead. The Black Motorsport team is back in action this weekend at the Lombard Rally Festival, where we’ll have two Mazdas competing.

We can’t wait to get back out there and see what they can do.

The dust has settled post "Be more Colin stages" - well not factually true.... as theres a serious amount of dust in the rally shed!!

Mack and Brian have put in a serious shift getting Cameron's mazda back square and in primer, with paint hitting the panels in the next few weeks.

Ahead of a double 323 entry into this fantastic Lombard Rally Brechin Castle!

We cant wait to spend the weekend on site with some fantastic cars and crews as company, Cameron using the event to dial in suspension settings and shake the car in post rebuild. If your down spectating feel free to come across to the Black Motorsport camp for a catchup and refreshment on the Saturday night 👌🏾
