So what a weekend at the modsports knockhill with round 2 of the championship, very hot but the same for everyone
Overall had a cracking 4 races with 4 class wins pushed very hard by all others in my class.

To my surprise i am now leading the championship by 1 point, really need to push hard at the final 3 rounds

Massive thanks to all my sponsors again.

OK so the weekend was a complete wash out in more than one way

Where to start,, well here goes, got the car ready for knockhill and arrived nice and early, fueled up ready for qualifying, the time came so helmet on and away we go, done 2 warm up laps and gradually upped the pace for a couple of laps, car felt good so time to push on and see how we fair for the grid.

Came round behind about 5 cars so timed it so I could get them on the straight, came out of the hairpin on full chat up the straight past the Marshall Post /start finish and the meatball flag was out, we as a line of cars past the flag and didn't know who it was for, so I done the decent thing and slackened off and took my time back to the pits.
On entry to the pits I was looking at the Marshalls and just got a shoulder shrug so just thought I will just retire to my pit and see myself.
Had a look over the car and nothing was wrong with the car, found out later it was one of the fiestas.

So that was the good bit of the day and now for the bad,, race one called and the rain was bouncing off the road, drove to the holding paddock and the car just cut out, # # # # what's the crack, tryed to restart but nothing, then got worse, sat in pit lane for 30 mins b4 getting towed back to my pit spot where we could not see anything wrong. Seemed like no fuel but pps were running, so decided it was time for the trailer and home as the weather was just terrible and was soaked to the skin..

Monday morning I was busy so car was sitting till the afternoon where I had a chance to get a look at it, found it to be the fuel pipes from the pump to the access panel in tank that had went pop, (cheep s**te pipe), so out with the pumps and replaced with proper 225psi pipe

Car running mint again so roll on cadwell Park

That's the suspension built and ready to be fitted, off to see Paul bowers for the alignment ASAP

So it's been a weeks holiday for me after a very busy few weeks,

Race report from Sunday the 8th, well where to start,,,, qualifying went to plan with a good few laps at warm up speed then hammer down for a couple laps to see what the car felt like,
The car behaved well and was giving good feel so came in to fuel up for the first race, came into the pits and had the same problem as last time with my transponder but with a good kick it woke up and started to work.

Race 1 I qualified 5th overall, got a good start and was pushing the lotus hard for around 7 laps, then I got the run out the hairpin and passed up the start finish straight and seen the meatball flag flash to my left,, s**t I though was that for me, anyway not to take the chance I finished the lap and into the pits from 3rd overall,
Stopped and it was because my rear door had been coming open in right hand corners, anyway they had a look and seen it was tied with a big bungie (from qualifying) and sent me back our, down to around 13th place, managed to keep my cool and pull back to 8th at the finish.

Race 2
Started 8th on the grid with an awesome start I was flying and passed up to 5th fighting again with the lotus, pushing and trying to see where he was weak so I could make a move,, about lap 7 I developed a really weird feeling through the front end so backed off to finish the race in 8th again, turns out the power steering fluid got too hot and escaped giving me no power steering..

So a mixed bag was what I would say was a fair comment for the weekend

2 class wins
Lap record 59.3

Hope for better next time

Thanks to everyone for the help and support again

So what a weekend we had

First of all thanks to all the help from friends and sponsors as without you all I would have struggled to get there.
Saturday test day did not go well, eventually got a chance to drive the car and right away we had a problem with the propshaft, vibration over 100mph was not good, anyway not to be beaten the car went back on the ramp to be checked.
The fault was the propshaft had not been aligned properly and was slightly out at the rear, so to try and reduce the vibration I added some weight to it which helped to a degree.

So Sunday was back on and off we went to Knockhill Racing Circuit for the first round of the smrc classic sports and saloons, qualifying was OK as long as I didn't push down the straights, came in after about 5 laps just as the red light came on as a few cars had broken down and spun off.
2 little problems I had was the transponder was not working and the car was a little tail happy, so moved the transponder and adjusted the dampers.

Race 1 started in 14th and had a good start and first 5 laps, bit of a lonely race after that and ended up 7th over all with a class win.

Race 2 was a good race and had a good fight with a quick fiesta with olly mortomer behind the wheel, the fight went on just about the whole race and had great fun till the last 2 laps when a bolt vibrated out the gear stick and left me with 3rd and 5th. Ended up 7th overall again and also another class win so well happy with that,

Had an absolute blast and to come away from my first event in the car with 2 wins and an undamage car I will take that.

Next race is the 18th of July so hope to see you all then and maybe u will all get in the paddock as well
