With Cornwall officially in drought, the risk of wildfires is increasing.
We've already seen blazes affecting Nanquidno, cliffs near Portreath and around Mawgan Porth in recent weeks. For wildlife already under pressure, a single wildfire can destroy vital habitat in a matter of minutes.
We're doing everything we can to protect our nature reserves in a changing climate, but we need your help.
🔥 Skip the BBQ. A tiny spark is all it takes, and hot coals will continue smouldering long after you've left them.
🔥 Take your trash. Litter like glass bottles, jars and tin cans are a fire risk if left in sunlight.
🔥 Be cigarette aware. Even the ash from smoking is a risk when the ground is this dry.
🔥 Careful where you park. Avoid parking on long grass, hot vehicle parts can easily set dry grass alight.
