A huge congratulations to Kayleigh on a very well-earned pass in her own car on Tuesday! πŸ₯³πŸš˜

It's been a long journey, with a few years away from driving while family life took over, but Kayleigh came back with renewed determination and has worked incredibly hard to become the safe, confident and fluent driver she is today.

This one is also very special for me, as Kayleigh was my very first pupil when I started out as a trainee driving instructor, and also came with me for my Part 3 instructor test! ❀️

I'm so pleased to see all that hard work pay off and privileged to have been part of the journey. Enjoy your new-found freedom and being able to get out and about with the family...you absolutely deserve it! πŸŽ‰πŸ›£

New DVSA guidance on test swapping!

From 12th May, instructors (or websites/swapping apps) will no longer be allowed to book learner tests or arrange test swaps on their behalf.

This guidance explains how test swapping works when learners need to arrange it themselves.

For swapping:
βœ… You only need the other learner's booking reference
❌ You DON'T need their name or any other personal data
βœ… You both need to be available at the time of the call...
❌ …but you don't need to be together
βœ… One learner calls the DVSA, the other waits for the DVSA to call them

To pass the security check, you'll both need to confirm your own details, including:
● Your driving licence number
● Your driving test booking reference number
● Your original payment card details
● Any driving tests you’ve taken before

See the full guidance:

You may be able to swap your car driving test with another learner driver by phone if you both already have a test booked and want each other's test slot.

Mobile Phones (Your phone can wait)

Your phone will still be there when you get where you’re going. The person in the other car might not be.

Using a mobile while driving is one of the most common causes of serious collisions in the UK, not because people are reckless, but because our brains are wired to respond to notifications. That pull is real. The risk is just as real.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Before you set off, put your phone on Do Not Disturb or in the glovebox. Out of sight genuinely helps. If you need it for navigation, set it up before you move.

Drive safe. πŸš—

πŸš— Learner drivers – what would YOU do? πŸ€”

You’re travelling down this road.
πŸ‘‰ What speed limit applies to you here?
πŸ‘‰ How have you worked it out?

No speed limit signs in sight… or are there clues you should be looking for? πŸ‘€
Tell us your thinking in the comments πŸ‘‡

πŸ‘©β€πŸ« Instructors: we know you know πŸ˜‰
Get your learners to talk it through β€” how they identify the limit, what signs or road features they’re using, and why guessing is never the answer.

Let’s see who’s reading the road properly! πŸš¦πŸ’¬
