🛞 Do You Know What the Numbers on Your Tyre Really Mean? 🛞
Most drivers know their tyre size, but there's one number that's just as important, and it's often overlooked: the load index.
The load index is the number found after your tyre size on the sidewall. It tells you the maximum weight each tyre can safely carry when inflated to the correct pressure.
For example:
✅ Load Index 91 = 615kg per tyre
✅ Load Index 99 = 775kg per tyre
That difference might not sound like much, but on a fully loaded vehicle it can be the difference between driving safely and putting unnecessary stress on your tyres.
🚨 Why does it matter?
Using tyres with a lower load index than your vehicle requires won't usually cause an immediate failure. Instead, the extra weight creates excess heat inside the tyre, causing the rubber to wear faster and increasing the risk of tyre failure, especially during long journeys or in hot weather.
This is particularly important if you:

✔️ Tow a trailer or caravan
