RECRUITING

ScaffFloat - Pontoon Builder - £45k

ScaffFloat has been growing at a rapid rate over the last year. We’ve been travelling all over the country, Glasgow to Padstow, South Wales to Essex as well as a few international projects.
We’re looking for someone to help our business grow and help build and operate our pontoons in even more locations.

ScaffFloat primarily provides safe floating access for contractors, builders, surveyors, scaffolders, engineers and anyone else that needs to work on the water. Because we can build our pontoons any shape, any size, in any specification we have had increasing demand for our specialist equipment.

Job Role
Description: Mobbing and de-mobbing pontoons across the UK. The pontoons are made of scaffolding and our bespoke bolt-ons like winches, spuds, outboards, cranes etc. We commission and hand over to the clients, or operate them ourselves. This can be quite a physical job as much of the equipment is standard scaffolding.

Experience: Someone with commercial marine experience would be perfect, ideally marine civils. Must be comfortable driving and towing trailers. Happy with manual work in all weathers. No scaffold experience is necessary.

Qualifications: RYA tickets are very valuable, ideally commercially endorsed. Other qualifications like CSCS etc are also beneficial.

Working Away: At least 50% of the time

Hours: Ideally full-time.

Start: Immediate

Benefits: Pension & performance-based bonus. Holidays

Pay: Starting at £25k pa + £50 a day work away bonus. Rising to £30k and £100 a day work away bonus when you start running your own jobs (takes on average 1-4 months). Once you are running your own jobs, and with bonuses you can expect to earn around £40-50k.

We are a small team working from Penryn, Cornwall, but looking to grow more and more.

If you would like to come work with us, building pontoons and working on rivers, canals, lakes and estuaries then let us know.

WE ARE RECRUITING

We are now recruiting for someone to come and build ScaffFloat pontoons and help us deliver some of the really exciting projects we have in the pipeline.

Salary: £25k - £30k plus pension
Working Away: We pay a significant additional day rate when working away
Bonus: We have a bonus system which is calculated on a job by job basis
Total: £35-40kplus
Details: Will be given during the application process

Immediate start. Ideally after a paid trial.

Job: Pontoon Builder

We all have a marine background and have taught ourselves to build ScaffFloat pontoons with no scaffold experience.

We are looking for someone with a strong marine background including qualifications. Comfortable driving all sorts of boats and generally working in and around the water.

Applications will be scored against the following:

Attitude & Culture: We are a very customer focused business. We always try and help find solutions and problem solving is a big part of what we do. This is a key part of our brand and so we weight the scoring for this very highly.

Safety: Keeping ourselves and our customers safe is a cornerstone of our service. Our customers trust us to take care of works afloat and whilst we work hard on the structure around safety (Risk Assessment, Method Statements, Policies, Training etc) the most important factor in safety is attitude. Accidents are generally predictable, they happen when things are rushed, not planned properly or people are tired. Having the right 'real world' attitude to safety is critical. Our mantra is Float Safe Home

Happy to graft: Building a standard ScaffFloat involves handballing 4-6t of scaffold tube, boards, clips and truss. It is often done in the wet and cold and against a deadline.

Tools: Must be happy on the tools.

Driving: This is a significant part of the job, so you must be comfortable towing large trailer. Our standard set up is a 3.5t flatbed Iveco with a 16ft trailer. We are also looking to expand our fleet to include an 18t (ish) wagon, with a crane, towing a big trailer full of floats - so applicants with appropriate licenses and understanding of driver hours and tachos will help with the scoring.

Marine: Experiance and qualifications driving boats, particularly commercial craft, small tugs etc.

Marine Civils / Contracting: This is an increasing part of what we do, experience with spuds, lifting equipment, plant, piling etc

Engineering & Electrics: Maintain and service outboards, winches, simple 12v wiring systems etc

Other: We will allow scoring number for additional miscellaneous skills that could add value to our offering.

This is a great opportunity to join a small team developing a really exciting product.

The job is 1% office based, the rest of the time you will be outside in the yard loading or doing maintenance, but most of the time out on the road mobbing or demobbing pontoons.

If you are interested please send your CV along with a cover email (no longer than 200 words) to [email protected] with a bullet list summary of your experience and qualifications and a paragraph about 1) why you want this job and 2) what value you can bring.

We look forward to hearing from you,

Toby and the ScaffFloat Team

We are providing a small workboat for works on the Neath Swing Bridge over the next year. We are looking for a local person to act as crew aboard the small workboat and assist the skipper where needed.

You MUST be:

Reliable - turn up on time
Have a good work attitude
Be happy outside, in the sun as well as the cold rain
Be up for a laugh on site
