Rebuild in progress now all the parts are available.
This poor old VP suffered a real dodgy rebuild and was poorly sick when the new owner bought it.
How it survived I don’t know.
Every valve struck their relevant piston crown and it was still running!
Jumped a tooth on the cambelt and was as noisy like you wouldn’t imagine. She’ll be right in a minute though.
There’s a good reason for the rebuild as it’s a unique set up in a small hardy with a sterndrive

Check those transmisson coolers for hose and component joints like this…

It’s not good when this happens and goes unnoticed. Luckily the purchaser had the forethought to engage an engineer to carry out the checks necessary before a substantial vessel purchase.
If a good engineer is just sitting in your bilges looking round and feeling pipework. If he knows his stuff this sticks out like a sore thumb to him. But to the untrained eye it can go unnoticed…
The o ring on the end of this cooler was just waiting to burst out

Dear AJ Marine Customers

I feel I need to explain why you may not have seen me or my lovely truck gracing boat yards in the last few months, (19 weeks to be precise). Unfortunately my beloved Nissan Navara has had an issue with its Adblue pump and tank which started back in early March. This has taken him off the road and he’s sat in a garage looking very sorry for himself.

Whilst I was frantically trying to service your engines and recommission your boats from March to May, I was desperately trying to keep mobile. Using one of my cars was proving impossible. Have you ever tried lifting a 75-kilo stern drive into the back of a Saab? It’s difficult. I then had the good fortune to be able to borrow Jerry and Sue’s VW Transporter from FYB for which I am eternally grateful.

Nissan are STILL unable to supply and deliver an Adblue pump and tank with no expected date given. After tireless discussions and a bit of shouting at Nissan UK, I’ve managed to secure a loan Navara to keep me mobile.

So to answer questions that keep popping up

No, I haven’t retired

No, I’ve not gone to work for FYB

No, I haven’t gone out of business

I’m still here, just driving a different colour vehicle.

Hope you’re all having a great summer with this amazing weather. Don’t forget to call, text or email should you require any of my services.

Just a word of warning to bertholders in Mylor Yacht Harbour and the neighbouring areas. It seems there are some “sticky finger” types helping themselves to things that don’t belong to them. I had a 5 gallon fuel can go walkabout in broad daylight last week. (I know it’s only a “fuel can” but it’s the principal of it all. I bought it so that makes it my property) We also know the culprits (a husband and wife team that are old enough to know better and judging by the car they own don’t need to steal. Furthermore, they are berth holders of a pontoon at Mylor Yacht Harbour.

It was quite surreal watching the playback on cctv. The other astonishing thing is that both husband and wife are as bad as one another! As he walked past he grabbed the handle of the trolley and when getting to the car she took the can out of the trolley and put it in their boot!

Fortunately, the can was returned the following day, after some pretty heated phone calls to the yard foreman as he was quite happy to brush it under the carpet. But, when I first made contact the yard the receptionist (who only this week has left MYH’s team) replied “well you’ve got to see the funny side haven’t you?” NO this is theft and by one of your berth holders! Would you see the funny side of it was your property I asked?

There has been no apology, just a very weak and completely ridiculous excuse! “We thought it was abandoned”

It’s a sad day when a bertholder feels the need to help themselves and steal from another. Luckily the cctv showed the entire footage of the couple stealing my can, placing it in their grey I pace Jaguar suv and driving away with it. The police were informed at the time and were extremely shocked at how the matter was handled by the Mylor staff.

The moral of this post is.. it’s not always the people you think it could be if something goes missing from your boat. I also wonder if Mylor Yacht Harbour would have treated me with the same complacency if it was I that stole the can from the “thieves” (sorry berth holders boat?
