We recently had a Ford ranger in with wiring problems, Their trailer lights weren't working and wanted us to investigate. After verifying the trailer wasn't the issue, it didn't take long to find what was the cause.😆
We see many universal wiring kits being fitted to vehicles as a cheaper alternative. Although they are a cost effective way, they offer no protection from the elements. When dealing with commercial vehicles, it is often wired on the external of the vehicle, so people try to improvise to protect the module. Unfortunately for this customer, a food bag isn't sufficient protection!
As you can see moisture has built up inside the bag, and started to corrode the circuit board. The slightest amount of corrosion on these upsets it and creates a world of issues. The simple fix is to remove the lot and replace with a proper vehicle specific kit, Which is watertight and will work for many years to come...💧💧
