We recently had a Ford ranger in with wiring problems, Their trailer lights weren't working and wanted us to investigate. After verifying the trailer wasn't the issue, it didn't take long to find what was the cause.😆

We see many universal wiring kits being fitted to vehicles as a cheaper alternative. Although they are a cost effective way, they offer no protection from the elements. When dealing with commercial vehicles, it is often wired on the external of the vehicle, so people try to improvise to protect the module. Unfortunately for this customer, a food bag isn't sufficient protection!

As you can see moisture has built up inside the bag, and started to corrode the circuit board. The slightest amount of corrosion on these upsets it and creates a world of issues. The simple fix is to remove the lot and replace with a proper vehicle specific kit, Which is watertight and will work for many years to come...💧💧

Small parts sand blasting 🔫

Bring trailer parts back to life! These Ifor horse box catches & handles needed a spruce up, so we gave them a quick blast, Epoxy Primed and then a heavy zinc Galv paint to protect from future rust. Its these little eye catching details that can Increase the value of your trailer, No need to replace, save money and have us freshen them up!

This is strictly fine garnet blasting.
Parts are priced for blasting , primer & paint at extra cost and to your choice.

Unfortunately an Ikea food bag, does not protect a universal towbar module from the weather😆💧

Universal wiring kits are great affordable option for any vehicle, however being universal, there isn't any planned safe place to wire the module where it isn't exposed. On most commercial vehicles wiring is external and these modules are left to get corroded. It is common to see other fitters, putting the modules in zip lock bags like this one in an attempt to protect it from the elements, Whereas a dedicated electrical kit wouldn't have presented this issue as they are fully sealed.

We rarely fit universal kits for this very reason and believe if you are getting it done do it right! Not only does it cause issues for your trailer but also plays havoc for your vehicles electrics. We replaced this ford rangers dodgy wiring job with a fully waterproof wiring kit and he hasn't had any lighting issues since. ✅
