1961 Morris Minor ‘Million Edition’

Something a bit different…

In 1961, the Morris Minor became the first British car to reach the remarkable milestone of one million units produced.

To celebrate, a special run of just 350 ‘Minor Million’ models was built, one for every BMC dealer in the UK, each finished in the instantly recognisable Lilac with unique ‘1,000,000’ badging and special trim.

This particular example is number 179 of 350, with only around 60 believed to survive today.

Completely restored by the Morris Minor Centre in Bristol in 2017, it retains its matching-numbers engine and original registration. The interior was also refurbished to its original specification, with white upholstery and contrasting black piping.

All of the distinctive ‘Million’ details remain, including the unique Lilac paintwork, 1,000,000 badging and chrome wheel embellishers.

Mechanically, the car has also been thoroughly cared for. Following a period off the road, the braking system was completely overhauled with new master and wheel cylinders, while Hardy Engineering fully rebuilt the gearbox in 2024. A new fuel pump, rebuilt carburettor and NOS dynamo have also been fitted.
