Booking your driving test? Make sure you’re doing it the right way. βœ…

Since 12 May, it has been against the law for anyone but the learner driver to book a driving test. Using unofficial apps, bots or automated tools also breaks the terms and conditions of our booking service.

We've already cancelled 450 tests where tests have been booked outside the new rules – and we're continuing to monitor activity closely. πŸ’ͺ

If misuse of the booking system is identified, we can cancel your booking and suspend your ability to manage your test online.

Our priority is to make the system fair for every learner and to stop you being exploited by third parties. The only way to book and manage a test is through GOV.UK. πŸ’»

From today, there will be more changes for learner drivers.

Only you can book or manage your car driving test. This means your driving instructor won’t be allowed to book it for you.

Putting learners in control πŸš—

We’ve made this change to:

❓ Have you got a friend or family member who receives a chorus of horns when using a roundabout?

πŸ‘€ Make sure to share our post with them:

↔️Signals and position:

When taking the first exit to the left, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise:

πŸ‘ˆ signal left and approach in the left-hand lane
πŸ‘ˆ keep to the left on the roundabout and continue signalling left to leave

When taking an exit to the right or going full circle, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise

πŸ‘‰ signal right and approach in the right-hand lane
πŸ‘‰ keep to the right on the roundabout until you need to change lanes to exit the roundabout
πŸ‘ˆ signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.

When taking any intermediate exit, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise

πŸ‘† select the appropriate lane on approach to the roundabout
πŸ‘† you should not normally need to signal on approach
πŸ‘† stay in this lane until you need to alter course to exit the roundabout
πŸ‘ˆ signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want

When there are more than three lanes at the entrance to a roundabout, use the most appropriate lane on approach and pay attention to road markings and signs.

Stop guessing and start seeing! πŸ›‘ Proper mirror adjustment is the easiest way to eliminate blind spots and stay safe on the road.
How to set your side mirrors:
βœ…οΈ Step 1: Lean your head towards the window and adjust the mirror until you can barely see the side of your car. 🚘
βœ…οΈ Step 2: The goal is to see the road behind you, not your own door panels! πŸ›£οΈ
βœ…οΈ Step 3: When a car leaves your rearview mirror, it should immediately appear in your side mirror. πŸ”„
Stay safe out there! ✨
