🇨🇴 Today we were delighted to hand over one of our jumbo vans, free of charge, to a group of Colombian volunteers in Scotland who have been collecting essential supplies donated here in Scotland for communities affected by the awful earthquake in Colombia last week.

They’ve now gathered 40 boxes of donations, with the next challenge being getting everything down to London, where onward transport to Colombia has already been arranged.

That’s where we could help. 🚐💙

The team collected their free AK van today and are heading off South as we speak.
They brought us a tub of chocs and this lovely handwritten thank-you, although helping get the donations where they need to go is more than enough for us. ❤️

A massive well done to Diana and all the Colombian volunteers in Scotland who have organised the collection, and safe travels to everyone making the journey.

We recently had the pleasure of chatting with Business Gateway Renfrewshire, who featured us on their TikTok as part of their spotlight on local businesses.

A huge thank you to the team for all the support they've given us over the years. From helping us secure grants (including funding towards our new website), to providing access to expert consultants, training sessions and regular business advice, they've been a fantastic resource as we've continued to grow and improve AK Vehicle Rental.

As a family business that's been serving Paisley since 1989, we're always looking for ways to move the business forward, and it's great to have organisations like Business Gateway supporting local companies along the way.

We're delighted to have been able to support ACCORD Hospice by donating the use of one of our 7.5-tonne trucks for their Summer Fayre last month. 🚛💙

The team put it to good use transporting everything needed for the event – and judging by this photo, they were certainly keeping busy! 😄

We're thrilled to hear the Fayre was a huge success, raising over £10,000 to support the incredible work ACCORD Hospice does in our community.

Ever spotted one of our vans and thought, “Hang on… is that logo upside down?”. Don't worry, you're not imagining things.

It all started as a bit of a laugh. We're big fans of Only Fools & Horses here at AK (Del Boy falling through the bar? Comedy gold). Inspired by the iconic Trotters van - “New York, Paris, Peckham”, we thought it’d be funny to list some “international depots” on our vans too.

Now, we’ve only got one depot (right here in Paisley), but we thought, why not dream big? So we added New York, London, Sydney… just your everyday van hire hotspots.

Then someone had the genius idea: “If we’re giving a shoutout to Sydney, shouldn’t the decals be upside down, y’know, for Down Under?” So we flipped them.

Next time we got a new van, we forgot to add the pretend depots but the upside-down stickers still went on. And that’s when people really started to notice. They asked questions. Took photos. Had a laugh.

So we kept doing it. And just like that, an AK tradition was born.
