The first Prepworks full underside refresh. This car came to us for some other work back in January from . Whilst it was in then, it was identified that the car would benefit from some further refinishing and an underside refresh. We planned this for early summer. The car left us at the beginning of August. We stripped the car down, removing front and rear subframes, suspension, brakes, radiators and all front hoses. We had some issues with corroded brake likes and had to replace some sections with new from Porsche and a new set of HEL Performance | Official lines from stock, and we also installed a set of softer Öhlins - Automotive springs to the R&T dampers on the car. Our process involves stripping the car back to reveal all the small areas of corrosion on the car, these are generally caused by stone chips etching into the factory E coat (there is no underseal/coating on a 996 or 997 GT3). We then treated all bare metal areas with a rust killing compound, before a 2k primer and exterior colour matched U-POL Raptor coating. This is a service we now offer for all 996 or 997 GT3. If you are worried about the condition of your car, we can do an assessment before talking about next steps, we can also provide estimates for the work if necessary. Please get in touch.

This weeks workshop update. Another 996 in for some work and progress on the Guards red car with the engine castings returning from having the fittings welded and pressure testing. Some new things coming, with a YouTube channel and videos later in the week.

Workshop update time again. Speed yellow GT3 has now left, Guards Red 996 GT3 is on the ramp with the engine out. Lots to be done on this one. The 996 GT3 we have used to develop our kit is also going up for sale. This is a special car, with an built 3.9 M440 package. Drop us a DM if it’s something you would be interested in owning. #911

Customer collection from after the underside refresh. Nice to see a car leave the workshop after so much work. The next car is already in progress. A detailed post on the work to this car will be posted in the coming days.

That’s the Speed Yellow 996 GT3 done. It’s now off the ramp awaiting collection. This has been a great transformation. We will be posting some before and after photos in an upcoming post. A quick video shows the underside after the work to refinish the car and stop the corrosion that had started to set in. We are taking booking for similar work, either for a complete underside on 996/997 GT3, or strut tops on 996/997/996/987 Carrera/Boxster/Cayman.

Some colours in the workshop. X3 gen2 996 GT3’s in currently. Yellow at the end of an underside restoration. Red car is now on the ramp for the engine to come out for coolant line welding amongst other things. Black car is our development car, a very special M440 build, it’s currently getting prepared for sale!

Next up in our new products range for the 996 Carrera is our version of a ducktail. We decided to develop our own after not being happy with the stories of fitment issues, large amount of time required in body shops to fit the current versions and also not feeling like they fully flow with the lines of the 996 body. We enlisted the services of ProcessCAD to 3D scan a factory Carrera Aero bumper, using the base section (a factory ducktail design) as the base for the Prepworks version. We have tweaked some radiuses, added some flare to the main part of the ducktail and removed the factory mould line. This design sits below the factory centre brake light, so no need to add another in the ducktail itself. There are some more tweaks to come, but we have prices for moulds and some estimates on piece part prices, we will be aiming to have final prices in the next month or so. The first print used as a test dropped straight on print with no issues. Next steps is final tweaks and then a print that we can use for the mould. #996
