This is why at MMS Mobile Mechanic we always replace the auxiliary drive belt when doing a timing belt. Here's 2 separate auxiliary belts that were replaced this week as part of timing belt jobs. One of them had worn so badly that it was actually splitting in two.

Timing belts done on 2 different cars for the same customer today. Both had full kits fitted, including timing belt, tensioner, idler pulley and a new water pump. Finished off with a new auxiliary drive belt and fresh antifreeze.

A Fiesta Ecoboost wet belt replacement done today. As I was taking it apart there were telltale signs that someone had been there before me. Sure enough it had a replacement timing belt but whoever had done it hadn't fitted a new tensioner or oil pump belt. The oil pump belt had started breaking up and fragments had blocked the gauze filters in the vacuum pump and turbo oil feed pipe. These were all cleaned out today and it was reassembled with the most comprehensive belt kit available, including both belts, tensioner, water pump and all gaskets, finished off with new engine oil and filter.
