Galleon Marine Boatyard Rowboats, kayaks, canoes, picnic garden and an Espresso Bar on the Basingstoke Canal. We also provide Narrowboats for day hire and holidays.

Open March to October. We are open for kayak, canoe and rowboat hire from 10:30am until 5pm in Summer and until 4pm in October, last boat out is 1 hour before closing. We operate from 1st March to 31st October. We have a pretty picnic area and a kiosk that sells ice creams, cold drinks as well as tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits. New for 2022 we have a converted horse box coffee bar.

Due to temperatures reaching 38 degrees tomorrow we will close at 3pm to protect our staff from working in these extreme conditions.

Continued hot weather means Ash Lock is now closed until we get significant rainfall to bring water levels back up. Luckily because our canal has a long 'top pound' we still have nearly 16 miles of navigable canal available. Other canals that have closures due to water levels are; Kennet & Avon, Rochdale, Hertford Union, Erewash, Trent & Mersey, Ashton, Pocklington, Huddersfield Narrow, River Stort, Rippon, Sheffield & Tinsley and Lancaster.

Today we helped a customer with a marriage proposal. Our boat ‘Odette’ was decorated by some talented ladies with beautiful flowers and lots of goodies. When the couple returned there were smiles and applause from everyone in the boatyard. Congratulations to the happy couple.

Last weekend, 12th April, our day hire boat had to stop and be reversed all the way back to our base so the hirers could continue their day towards Odiham Castle. The reason? an unexploded gr***de which was dealt with by bomb disposal. It was fished out by a magnet fisherman despite magnet fishing being prohibited on the Basingstoke Canal.
