Sometimes a short review can still make you proud of the team.

“The best maintained boat I ever chartered!”

Another great review for Star of Oban, our Bavaria Yachts 36. After all the hard work the team put into her over the winter, including getting her through the coding process, it is fantastic to see her being enjoyed so much by our clients.

"Star of Oban is very well equipped and maintained. A fellow sailor on the Lochaline pontoon asked us if she was new!

Excellent communication with Olly at all stages - pre, during and post charter, plus a helpful and comprehensive handover at the start of the charter. We highly recommend Olly and Oban Yacht Charters and plan to charter again, hopefully with a little more sunshine next time!

Many thanks"

It is great to see that clients are enjoying our latest addition to the fleet, the Bavaria 36 Star of Oban.

"We had a comprehensive, clear briefing on arrival. I would definitely recommend taking up the option of having Olly as a visiting skipper at the start of the charter. It really took the stress out of the first day. His clear teaching helped us all to get familiar with Star of Oban and to refresh our sailing & boat handling skills after a years break.

We were lucky to have calm seas to go west of Mull. Olly recommended some wonderfully quiet anchorages on the west side of Mull & a visit to Lunga to see the puffins!

Star of Oban is a well-equipped, roomy boat that handles well. Olly had told us to go to reef 3 early & he was right!
It was so useful to have the Antares charts for getting into smaller anchorages.

I would definitely charter again from Oban Yacht Charters because Olly's communication was excellent throughout, and Star of Oban was so well cared for. It was so useful to have the Antares charts for getting into smaller anchorages."

It is always nice to get a good review. The early part of this summer saw some challenging conditions for the boats and their crews. The great thing about the West Coast of Scotland is that when the weather is challenging, there is still plenty to see and do. Usually sheltered sailing can still be facilitated, or itineraries tweaked.

"From our initial enquiries to the final handover of Morning Star communications was excellent. The booking was very clear. Morning Star is a lovely, comfortable, modern boat with everything working well. She handled the pretty bad weather well. During the charter, Olly was very helpful with forecasts and suggestions of where to go.

Well done and thank you."

Sails and Spirits: A Hebridean Odyssey

A 7-Day Curated Expedition with Skipper Amy Graydon.
Join us for an immersive voyage through the rugged heart of the Inner Hebrides. This isn't a fixed-route cruise; it’s a high-end "Seafood & Spirits" expedition designed for those who appreciate world-class single malts and the raw beauty of the Scottish coast.

Meet Your Skipper:
Your journey is led by Amy Graydon, an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor whose life has been defined by the water. From her first tack in a dinghy off the coast of Greece to navigating the Panama Canal and exploring the remote North Pacific, Amy has commanded everything from nimble racers to 70ft Ocean Racers.
Having led expeditions to the legendary St. Kilda and trained crews for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, Amy brings a rare blend of high-level technical sailing with a warm West Coast hospitality. As both your Skipper and Host, Amy provides a seamless experience—sharing her secret anchorages by day and pairing the evening’s meals with the perfect local dram by night.

The "Rough" Itinerary (Weather Permitting, Flexible):

In the Hebrides, the wind is our master. We keep our schedule flexible to ensure we find the best sailing conditions and the most sheltered anchorages. Our general aim includes:
• Tobermory & Morvern: Sourcing world-class, locally sourced food before heading to the organic, forward-thinking Nc’Nean Distillery.

• The Atlantic Frontier: Aiming for Tiree for white sand beaches, island-grown spirits, and local brewery vibes—weather and swell allowing.

• South Mull & Staffa: A stop to witness the basalt columns of Fingal's Cave before finding a quiet anchorage for a game or seafood dinner.

• The Islay Deep Dive: Two days centred around Port Ellen, walking the "Three Distilleries Path" (Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Ardbeg) with options for bespoke tours at Bruichladdich or Kilchoman.
• Wild Jura & Gigha: A warehouse tasting at Jura followed by a potential loop around Gigha for a legendary seafood lunch.

• The Oban Finish: Returning for a final dram at the historic Oban Distillery and a visit to the famous Seafood Shack.

Pricing & Details:
The tip is Oban North Pier to Oban North Pier- Joining at 1500 on Saturday, the 29th of August and departing at 1000 on Saturday, the 5th of September.

Price: £1,400 per person, £2600 for a couple/cabin.

What’s Included:
• Expert Leadership: Amy Graydon as your dedicated Skipper & Host extraordinaire.
• All Onboard Dining: High-quality meals featuring fresh, local West Coast produce (scallops, venison, langoustines). (limited alcohol)
• Distillery Experiences: All pre-planned premium tours and warehouse tastings.
• Operational Costs: Fuel, gas, and all berthing/mooring fees.

What’s Not Included:

• Travel to/from Oban.

A Note on the Elements:
The West Coast is spectacular because of its wildness. To ensure your safety and comfort, this itinerary is fluid. With a Yachtmaster Instructor at the helm, a shift in the wind isn't a setback—it’s an opportunity to discover a hidden sea-loch or a distillery off the beaten path.

Space is strictly limited to 4 guests.
3 Places Remaining.

A recent review has come in.

"We really enjoyed our week with Iota and were very happy with the condition, equipment and everything onboard. OYC had prepared the boat perfectly and did a thorough handover to us. We went for the premium package, which saves all the hassle of getting food to the boat. It also includes refuelling at the end of the week, which avoids any doubt over where to get it around Oban. We would definitely charter again with OYC and Iota in particular. Very happy!"

We had stunning but windy weather recently. Olly managed a wee trip out to the Kingairloch Estate with an old friend.

The Boathouse Kingairloch was absolutely fantastic with food sourced from the estate that beautifully prepared and cooked. It has friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

With six “first come first served” we had a very comfortable night.

The wildlife was stunning in Loch a Choire with deer eider ducks and jumping sea trout.

This stop is highly recommended. There are fantastic walks to be had the walled gardens were beautiful.

Good luck to all the competitors in the The Scottish Islands Peaks Race. We hope you all have a fantastic race. It’s time to break out the tracker app.

We would like to give a particular shout out to the team on Star of Oban. Our Bavaria 36.

Wow, we are at 50 reviews. How did that happen?

"We chartered Morning Star, for a week, beginning of May 2026. From the beginning, the communication from Olli was superb. Any questions were immediately addressed. Morning Star was so well presented, everything worked as it should, and all in superb condition, by far the best charter boat I have chartered. The handover and handback was conducted by Merlin. Merlin was brilliant and very professional. Highly recommended"
