Just in case anyone thought being a driving instructor was an easy job, I'll just give you a snippet of the last seven days. Last Monday, another driver reversed into my car. Fortunately, quite minimal damage. Wednesday, a lorry driver tried to run myself and my learner off the road. Thursday, I had a puncture right before a driving test. And finally today, booked a mobile mechanic in for a morning appointment, and I'm still sat here waiting for them to arrive!! 😣 I think a lottery win is due!! 😂

After what I can only describe as one of the most challenging weeks I've had in this job, along came Grace and brightened everything up 🌞🌞. She absolutely blitzed her driving test today with just two little faults. Grace has been a true pleasure to teach. Always smiling even when she found something harder and always willing to work hard to achieve her best. Thank you also to her parents for all the extra practise!! Congratulations! ❤️❤️

What a morning!! Sun is out, aircon is on full blast and Addison just passed her driving test FIRST TIME and with just two faults!! She has been a star pupil throughout her lessons. Always committed, reliable and very dedicated. She was determined she was only going to take this test once and she did it!! Well done and enjoy no more public transport. 😂😂

The Transport Secretary had been aiming to reduce the backlog to seven weeks by this autumn.

Here's the final change for the moment. You can no longer book a test at the other end of the country and then swap it to your local test centre. Most importantly though, please always check with your instructor before booking a test.

Changes to driving test booking happening today. ⚠️

From today (9 June), if you move your driving test, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it's currently booked.

This is the remaining change we committed to make by the end of Spring 2026:

📅 31 March — test changes limited to 2 per booking

🔒 12 May — only learners can book, change or cancel their own test

📍 9 June — test moves limited to 3 nearest centres

Since 12 May, we've suspended 3605 accounts for breaking the rules and reported apps to app stores for removal. We're not stopping there.

The boy did good!!! Well done to Jack Munton who produced a great drive this afternoon that earned him a pass with just three faults. This hasn't always been the easiest journey for Jack, but he's really persevered and committed himself, and hence really deserves this result. Happy car shopping!! 🚗🚗
