🚐 Mercedes Vito Taxi/ Private hire in for our DPF Cleaning Service

This Mercedes Vito came into us with a blocked DPF system, with the filters heavily restricted by a combination of ash and soot.

Rather than relying on chemical cleaners or trying to force a regeneration, we remove the DPF and clean it on the bench using our water-pressure pulsing process.

Over the last 8+ years, this process has given us great success in recovering heavily blocked DPF systems, while also allowing us to properly inspect the filter and investigate the root cause of why it became blocked in the first place.

But this one was a little different… 🤔

During the inspection, we found part of a hacksaw blade inside the DPF! 😳

Further investigation suggested the vehicle had previously had a DPF delete carried out, which apparently hadn't gone to plan or had subsequently failed its MOT/taxi emissions testing.

It looks like the vehicle was then reverted back to the original emissions system — but unfortunately, the evidence of its previous life was still sitting inside the DPF!

Once again, this highlights why we don't simply clean a DPF and send the vehicle on its way.

Understanding why the DPF became blocked in the first place is just as important as cleaning it. Our process allows us to inspect the system properly, recover the filter where possible, and help identify any underlying issues that could cause the problem to return.

This is a DPF pressure sensor which has melted. The common causes for this is a blockage within the diesel particle filter within the exhaust. The exhaust gas temperatures get so high with the extreme pressure build up, and causes expensive damage.

At first sign of a issues with your DPF, ADBLUE, EGR get the issue inspected ASAP. It can potentially save you £1000s

VW T5.1 Transporter van came to us in limp mode with a blocked DPF filter.

We manually clean them DPF of soot and ash getting it back as close as physically possible to its new virgin state.

We returned the ECU back to its virgin adaptions so we could pin point the underlaying issues which contribute to the a filters blocking up.

This van previously had egr cooler issues, we could have blamed this as the cause, but with more in-depth scoping we found one of the exhaust gas temperature sensors was giving incorrect readings.

The common issue with DPF cleaning / repair services is that garages fail to track down the initial issues and fix them, so 2 or3 months down the line the DPF is blocked again.
