Had this lovely wedding hire van in for clutch failure.
After a fresh flywheel , new clutch kit, engine clean, strip and all seals and gaskets replaced, an oil change, new gearbox mounts and a quick tune up its was collected to have the wiring issues sorted and itll be ready and reliable for this wedding season.

Real nice 63 bug came in with a rather bad oil leak and the brakes stuck on.

New master cylinder fitted and full brake fluid flush
And found the driveshaft boots where leaking due to the gearbox mounts failing.
Crankshaft seal and flywheel O ring fitted
New mounts fitted and new driveshaft boots
While the engine was out, found the clutch return spring had snapped aswell.

Got it all back together and ready for the summer.

Gearbox mounts seem to be the no1 overlooked replacement part on a beetle. Followed by the master cylinder.

Amazing bit of kit from PCDparts
This is the entry level 4 pot bolt on upgrade kit we have just fitted to this late baywindow and it really looks the part. As you can see the original calipers and disks only fitted 5 years ago haven't lasted long at all with minimal summer millage this van gets.
Its the perfect upgrade to get you stopping as quick as a newer vehicle.

Quick once over and clean before a road trip,
And some much needed fixes I've not had the time to sort.
New inlet mani boots (as the road side repairs have done what was needed)
New fuel hoses as this one decided to crack while parked up over winter.
And i thought I'd whip the carb open as I've never had a look since owning it, about 10 years of stale parked up winter fuel to clean out, and a seized choke lever (causing the last 3 years of cold start issues)

Always a case of, if its not broke don't fix it, but some times its good to find the time to give it a good clean out. 👌

Lovely blue bug came in for a little service and seriously under powered and some MOT jobs and a once over
Fitted electric washer bottle kit
Repaired the wiper motor
Wired in the warning lights
Fitted new ht leads
Fitted a 1300 oilbath filter with new hoses
Deck lid spring installed
Wiring gone through
Alternator now charging
Replacement speedo clock
Fuel gauge rewired
New electronic ignition distributor Fitted
Steering column tightened to coupler
And a few odd jobs
Quick tune up and test drive
Ready to put some miles on it this summer

This Snail was collected this week and off to get its interior done, so itll be ready for some adventures this summer, after having a full much needed overhaul on all servicable parts and camping upgrades fitted.

Now sitting lower with a set of banded steels on the rear.
New dometic 2way fridge and invertor
Leasure battrey wiring relocation and split charge instalation, hidden under the bench
Diesel heater set up reworked to run safely where it was installed and boxed away
New stainless exhaust
New webber carb set up
New front beam and steering components
Fully refurbished brake set up
New goodrich bdake hoses and hardlines
New fuel lines
Headlights rebuilt with a genuine set up
Flywheel skimmed and new clutch kit installed
All fluids refreshed
And loads of little jobs sorted along the way.

Who's almost ready for the summer????

Had this Split come in for valve adjustments and a carb tune up as the 1776 was struggling on hills. Noticed the fuel lines needed replacing as they had seriously perished in a year.

Kadrons stripped, cleaned and readjusted along with an oil change. Engine leak check inspection. Its now pulling up hills like a train again and ready for some sunshine. 🤙👌🤙
