Been a minute 🥺

Keeping busy in the workshop and mapping whilst juggling life can get a bit hectic

Anyways, one of the cool little jobs from last week

Smart little bora in for some good bits!

Customer had already fitted an 1856 gen 3 and higher flowing inlet manifold but wasn’t confident fitting the cam and injectors sooo easy work for us

Veicomer 272 cam kit
Firad 120s and new seals

Nice little morning job followed by mapping and then met the customer for convenience to drop it off 💪 all done in a day

Estimated around 270 or so bhp and yes you can do that stock hurrr durrrr bur this is a lot safer long term and every thing ready for bigger turdo ! 💩

Goes really well and reduces the lag on the 18 quite a lot!

We are closed until Thursday due to leave but we have updated the webshop with items we have physically on the shelf which can be dispatched as soon as we are back

https://pdparts.co.uk

Sorry for lack of updates on the socials too the workshop hasn’t really stopped for the last few months

Done some cool cars and stuff though

Really enjoy working on CR stuff

Bad cold start and I suspected injector fault

Removed and tested all 4 and two failed so replaced with genuine Bosch

Genuine cambelt and waterpump with new oil pump belt and front crank seal

DPF track pipe fitted and egr solution

So loud 😂

When you get a help me message early in the morning 😂

1752 fitted to this car around 5-6 years ago when we was back over in Loughborough, made the standard 210bhp for many many miles and never had an issues.

Got sent a picture a couple of weeks ago with oil up the inner bonnet and car cut out so naturally we both assumed the constant 140mph pulls killed the turbo!

Stripped turbo off and apart from passing a little bit of oil it was still solid and had very minimal play. Rebuilt everything cleaned the sump and pipes out etc and went to to turn over by hand the engine incase oil was in the bores and the bottom end wouldn’t move.

Pulled the belt and it was missing a good third of the teeth 😂

Customer had no choice but to fit a belt kit, Prime the turbo and see if it ran ok by that point and it started straight up 🤞

Turns out the oil was just a very long boost leak from the coupler so got rid of that now 🙈

1856 supplied fitted and mapped followed by a genuine cambelt and waterpump kit and it’s back home

Have the valves hit? 100%!

It runs and that’s all the owner wanted for now and least he can sell his old 52!

Another caddy done and collected!

Still quite refreshing to work solo and just crack on with stuff and means I can put full energy into every project.

This was a really enjoyable swap with the original 105 engine being very tired the customer supplied a replacement pd130 from a bora and a 02m gearbox.

To keep it simple we opted to replace the original 105 turbo with a hybrid version of the top mounted unit so all boost pipes just re aligned back up and looked fairly factory.

Original cam in the 130 was worn so in went a sdi cam kit with genuine cambelt and waterpump kit.

All back together with everything emission related still intact to save any issues with mot’s or road side checks.

Only downside is with the standard cat and intake it was really stuggling holding 1.8 bar so nudged everything down a little for reliability.

Back on the road sounding sweet as a nut 😎

Lovely little week at work I think it was around 5 cambelts in total this week 😂

Thursday and Fridays work all squared away

Banananananana which was still pretty clean in for Headgasket issues.

Originally booked in for that and clutch once removing the turbo to pull the head it was clear it was pretty worn and not worth refitting!

Plan changed with an additional Fmic setup fitted and a jw1752

This thing was pressuring like crazy before and it was all standard software wise too!

All fixed running 1.8 keeping torque capped as close to 300 ft lb as possible and aiming for 210bhp @4000 rpm

Big jump in power for the owner for sure.

Followed by a quick clutch change On a fabia we last saw 4 years ago! 😳

Previously mapped it around that time as owner had a lot of problems with tuners up in Scotland so drove down to let us sort it.

Clutch in and done within a couple of hours and I can apologise in advance for my poor music taste in the workshop 😂

Roll on the caddy swaps and t5 swaps next week 👀

Quite a spicey little Fabia in for mapping a couple of weekends ago.

Always a night mare to get traction mapping this time of year just to rain/road conditions

First time mapping the 2265 ball bearing from Jw and it didn’t disappoint.

Good few hours and she’s ripping

2265 ball bearing
Firad 100s
Ported head
Veicomer 272

Also done a multimmap for use of m**h for safety

Should be a solid 350bhp car and 8 sec 100-200

Usually don’t work Saturdays but we do mapping with notice

Originally booked in for mapping as running rough and black smoking after an Asz swap I thought lovely easy 3 hour job get gone by 1pm

Clearly not 😂

Travelling down with no power for 2.5 hours and not being able to pull 5th gear I was set on sorting it.

Arrived and 30 mins later idling perfect with all the usual fuel/electrical sorted for the injectors

Take it up the road and 0 boost, well half a bar in third gear at 3000 rpm

Had just a brand new 56mm hybrid from somewhere so naturally rule that out. Map sensor unbranded and maf old so change for working ones and still no boost.

Head scratching 4 hours later and not getting any further and it’s being a nightmare, 25 mercury from tandem, actuator pulling vnt arm on output test and hitting stop screw at 19 so I’m all out of ideas.

Last resort at 3pm I have a random pd150 turbo from a breaker and 10 mins later I’m rolling around under a t5 whipping the new 56 off

First pull after fitting and it’s trying to beak traction in second

Phew

Long story short the new turbo was clapped and I spent all day trying to fix a hardware fault with software

What a day.

Finished on 160~ bhp focusing on throttle response and just lovely usable torque

I’m never booking a t5 in for a Saturday map again 😂😂

Customer happy now he has power and 98% then he’s been driving it 🕺

Sometimes the work isn’t quite super spicy work like an extra hot vindaloo but rather a nice pack of chilli heatwave crisps 🤣🤷‍♂️

Mk4 in for a few bits and to be honest was well needed!

Originally in for diag as usual limp mode…
Stock unmapped 130 hitting 2+ bar on a pull

Bad starting with a misfire and lots of white smoke

Boost leaks

So remidied all the above with a 1752 from
Jw

Darkside upgrade smic with new silicon and piping

4 bar map sensor

New injector seals with lash re setting

Pd150 headbolts

Now it’s peaking 1.9 bar and holding 1.8 tapering off lovely after 4000 rpm

Butt dyno and logs showing we should be good for 300 ft lb and 210 just down to old clutch limiting torque

Owner can happily put his foot down without worrying about the tiny turbo blowing up 😎

SDI caddy to BKD in for some investigation due to no boost.

Converted elsewhere and all mechanically sound it was just a case of finding the issue.

Lots of short to ground and random short to plus had to strip loom off and sort.

Problem all solved and finally time for booooooost

Wired n75 with its on +12v ignition and direct route to the ecu pin instead of going through the t14 plug

Mapping nothing too complicated as stock clutch on a 1756 so raised the stock diag limits that vw used in the 3 bar up from 2602 to 3060, ran 1.9 bar solid and everything scaled correctly fuelling and voila basically more than doubled this vans original power in a few hours

Usual limiter and hot start done at the same

All sorted
