Dance4 is delighted to release the programme for this year’s Nottdance Festival – the 21st edition!
“The festival’s 21st birthday feels like an important moment to recognise the coming-of-age of one of the longest running and most established dance festivals in the UK,” commented Paul Russ, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Dance4. “But, of course age isn’t everything! We’re also looking b
ack over our contribution to testing new territories, engaging new audi ences and stretching the concept of what dance may be; throughout the East Midlands, the UK and beyond.”
This year’s festival is the biggest yet. It revis its some of the most exciting artists from the last twenty-one years; Wendy Houstoun (UK), with 50 Acts: a work exploring the status of the (ageing) performer and a dou ble bill with Charles Linehan (UK), including a much awaited work-in-progress of The Fault Index. As well as established artists, the festival plays host to a unique exchange and mentor ing programme, Europe in Motion: Mosaic Identities - which brings together emerging international artists in a series of dialogue and presentation events. The programme cel ebrates and interrogates both established and emerging artists to showcase some of the work Dance4 has been involved in develop ing, supporting and commissioning over the past year. The Nottdance Festival programme contains something for everyone; from those who may have never watched contemporary, or indeed experimental, dance work before, to die-hard Nottdance-goers. However all the work has something in common, it’s all an exam ple of great art and the Dance4 team look forward to seeing you at the Nottdance Festival soon!
