Mercedes C300d in for Stage 1 Tuning
This is one of the many that we have had recently, that have been mapped previously to a very poor standard whether that’s a year ago or a month ago 🤦🏼♂️
This was mobile mapped, no data logging and the “mapper” had to come back several times to try and fix the problem. The thing that made us crack up was the customer telling us that the tuner pulled up in a truck and when questioned said “this is my day job, i map on the side” 😂
Upon testing the vehicle on previous tuners file, it made 245bhp (he quoted 280bhp) 😐
We then benched the ECU to get a read of the map to see what was going on with it and was greeted by: fault codes deleted for mass airflow, under boost, overboost and critical codes that are there for a reason…
Percentage increases on rail pressure, torque to fuel maps, start of injection and so on.
All of these alongside boost pressure request adjusted across the whole table (even idle at minimal injection quantity, we are seeing this often on the dreadful maps and still do not understand why you need to increase boost pressure request on idle 😐)
Putting it back to stock to ensure the vehicle is running healthy and it made 235bhp!
Throughout testing, DPF pressures were slowly rising the more runs we did, which ended up preventing us from finishing the tune.
We then advised the customer to get the DPF cleaned and to have it back on the dyno once it had been, for no extra charge, to ensure the vehicle was running as it should and producing a nice curve!
Fast forward a week, and it was back on our dyno to finish off tuning! As you can see, at high rpm, where DPF pressures were climbing too much initially, it has now been smoothened out with DPF pressures within tolerance.
A couple more adjustments once off the dyno for low throttle driving and the car was running spot on 🤌🏼
