Following on from the disappointment of a DNF in race 1...

Race 2, Wet and greasy conditions meant it was going to be tough, however starting on the front row we had a good opportunity to maximise points.
We dropped into 2nd for the first half of the race whilst we learned where the grip was before starting to push on towards 1st. We made a move on lap 6 which didn't quite work remained in 2nd for a further lap, the 2nd attempt worked and we used the momentum to go on to win and get fastest lap. 🏆🏁

This result has kept us in contention for the championship as we go into to the final 2 races at Silverstone in a few weeks time. If our pace continues I'm pretty sure it should be an exciting final couple of races.

Race 1 @ Mallory Park

After a decent qualifying putting us on the front row for both races we were confident that our pace was strong and we were ready to continue the battle for the championship.

Initially the start was pretty poor off the mark but we soon got back into the race and made progress from 4th to 2nd within 1 to 2 laps. On lap 2 we broke the lap record by over 8 tenths and got the fastest lap of the race. Unfortunately a small collision on lap 3 caused a leak on our radiator forcing us to retire immediately.

It's not ideal and frustrating when we had so much pace early on, however we kept our heads focused, fixed the leak and headed into race 2...

BRANDS HATCH ROUND 5 (Races 9 and 10)
Very wet conditions all day!

Qually went reasonably well, very close between the top 5/6. We managed to qualify 4th for both races.

Race 1: Big incident on lap 1, luckily every was OK and I avoided the incident. Unfortunately there was some big damage for fellow teammates meaning they were unable to continue the rest of the races. After the race restart we manged to bring the car home in 3rd place. Lapping almost identical to the top 2 drivers.

Race 2: We dropped to 7th from 4th due to poor launch. Manged to get back to 3rd on lap 1 and ended up finishing 2nd and only 0.3s off the lead after 12 laps. We also got fastest lap.

Overall decent results putting us in the best position for the championship heading into the next round.

Big thanks to my parents, Charlotte Land, kids for all the support and putting up with the terrible weather all day! Big thanks to Stuart Sellars Team Sellars Racing and my dad for the support with the car. Thanks to Marc Grasby for lending us some equipment throughout the weekend.

Next round... Mallory Park!

Celebrating the 2023 champion

Craig Land retained the Yokohama UK Locost Championship title in 2023 after also having triumphed in 2022.

He claimed six wins during the 14-race season. Double victories came at Anglesey, Snetterton and Brands Hatch. Five second-places finishes were also achieved at Donington Park, Anglesey and Croft in a season which he dominated the points table.

Yokohama Locost Championship 2023...
Completed it.

After another 2 wins / 2 and a fastest lap we are now Provisional Champions!

What a season it has been, there's been some great battles with multiple different competitors and made some awesome memories.

I have to say how amazing the car has been not just this season but the previous 4! This is big shoutout to Team Sellars Racing Stuart Sellars Paul Land for doing amazing job and providing me with this monster every race weekend.

Without the Complete support of my family Charlotte Land racing wouldn't be possible and nothing beats the race weekends we go as a complete package.
Thanks mother Maxine Land for coming to every round and always providing us with amazing food all weekend!

Let's see what 2023 brings us. Maybe a new challenge?

🏁🏎️ Yokohama Locost Round 3 Recap Croft

🌟 What an adrenaline-fueled weekend we had at Croft. Here’s a more detailed rundown:

🚥Qualifying🚥:
Saturday morning came with its own set of challenges. I had not been out at Croft since 2021, so I went into qualifying with a blind setup. The first couple of laps were all about re-familiarizing myself with the circuit. It was like rekindling an old friendship. Eventually, I managed to put in some strong laps, which secured me a front-row start at P2 for Races 1 and 2, right next to the flying Todd Boucher. 🌪️

🔥Race 1🔥:
The race started positively as Todd and I broke away from the pack early on. However, the battle was put on hold when my clutch decided to take a short break. Fortunately the safety car came out a few laps later, which bunched us back up. With one lap to go, it was a cat-and-mouse game. I tried to find a gap in the last few corners, but it wasn’t meant to be. We crossed the line in 2nd place. Onward!

⚡Race 2⚡:
We fine-tuned the car including addressing clutch and gearbox issues. With high hopes, we aimed to break away in the early laps. However, Todd put together some stellar laps and used the tow to slingshot past me on the back straight. Little did we know, the safety car would make an encore appearance a few corners later, leading us to the chequered flag with another 2nd place finish.

🌪️Race 3🌪️:
This one was a roller coaster! We stormed into the 1st corner in the lead, with Todd in hot pursuit. A red flag caused by a crash brought a temporary halt. On the restart, I had the best start of the season. But, the engine was starting to feel like a sauna. 🌡️ Even with temperatures over 100°C, we built a 1.5-second lead. However, with 2 laps to go, Todd began to close in. My engine, now lacking power, couldn't hold him off, and we finished 2nd for the third time.

🎉Reflections🎉:
Though the top step of the podium eluded us, this weekend was a triumph. We bagged solid points for the championship and are feeling invigorated with 3 of my favourite circuits left. We've identified areas for improvement and are chomping at the bit for the next race.

📘 Regarding Tuitions 📘:
A quick note - I won’t be available for tuitions at Snetterton the Friday before race weekend. But please don't hesitate to get in touch, and we can arrange something that works for you.

Thank you all for the continued support at the track and back at home!

Thank you Team Sellars Racing and Paul Land for providing me with yet again a great car and a strong legal engine as always.

Race 3 at anglesey was a slightly different story. With a good start I managed to gain around a 1 second advantage over Todd Boucher however on the back straight Todd caught a sniff of my tow and managed to reduce the 1 second gap to almost nothing. Later that lap Todd saw an opportunity to take the lead into the airpin. Todd had gone into the bend slightly too quick and late on the brakes which caused his rear tyres to lock up and rotate his car mid corner resulting into a spin. Fortunately for me I'd anticipated that Todd was going to be wide on the exit so I was already looking for a late apex to get the run into the next bend this ment I could easily avoid the incident. After the incident I found my self with a comfortable gap vs Tom Parker and retained the gap for the rest of the race leading to victory 2 of the season.

Race 2 from last weekend, Great start by Tom Parker positioned him between myself and Todd. I managed to set a gap on the 1st 2 laps and was able to hold this gap for the remainder of the race finished on the top step for the 1st time this season.
