Ever wondered what happens on your driving test. Read this post from the DVSA to find out what to expect.

Curious about what happens during a driving test? Here's what to expect on test day.

An eyesight check 👀
You'll read a number plate from 20 metres away or 20.5 metres if it's an old-style plate.

'Show me, tell me' vehicle safety questions 💭
You'll answer 2 questions about vehicle safety. The 'tell me' question comes before you start driving and the 'show me' question while you're on the move.

General driving ability ✅
You'll drive on a variety of roads, but not on motorways, including 20 to 35 minutes of independent driving, following either a sat nav, traffic signs, or both.

Reversing your vehicle 🚗
You'll be asked to do one of the following: parallel park, park in a bay, or pull up on the right and reverse 2 car lengths. Your examiner will let you know which one.

Knowing what's coming can make test day feel a lot less daunting.

Before setting off on any journey, it's crucial that you check your vehicle's wipers are working properly. Wipers are vital in ensuring you can see the road and other road users clearly while driving.

Here's what you should check:

🔍 Wiper blades- Look for any tears, cracks or signs of wear. Damaged blades can smear water across your windscreen rather than clearing it, making it harder to see.

🔍 Washer fluid- Make sure your screenwash reservoir is topped up. In wet and muddy conditions, you'll need it to clear spray and dirt from other vehicles.

🔍 Wiper functionality- Test your wipers before you set off. Check all speed settings work properly and that they clear your windscreen effectively.

Take care and drive safely. 👍

My weeks got off to a great start with a pass in the bag already🥳. It's such a lovely part of the job when someone passes their driving test🥰. It's a real life skill and helps people keep in touch with friends, family and possibly expand their work horizons. Good luck to everyone that has a test coming up soon 🤞🤞
