🔧 Audi A3 – Alternator & Belt Replacement 🔧

This Audi A3 came to us after the alternator pulley seized and eventually came off, taking the belt with it.

We fitted a brand-new alternator and belt, getting the car back up and running smoothly and reliably. 🚗💨

🚨 ANOTHER PURETECH WET BELT STRAINER BLOCKED SOLID — AT JUST 50,000 MILES! 🚨

This PureTech engine came to us for a wet belt replacement, and what we found underneath was a perfect example of why this job needs to be done properly.

The vehicle had already had a wet belt replaced previously, and the writing was still clearly visible on the old belt. This tells us the sump had never been removed and the oil pickup strainer had never been properly inspected or cleaned.

As you can see from the photos, the strainer was almost completely blocked with debris. 😳

⚠️ Simply replacing the belt and putting fresh oil in is NOT enough.

When a PureTech wet belt is replaced correctly, the sump and strainer should be inspected and cleaned as part of the job where required. Otherwise, you could be left with a seriously restricted oil pickup and potentially much bigger engine problems down the line.

Unfortunately, we’re seeing more and more vehicles locally where customers have been charged a substantial amount for a “wet belt replacement”, only to find that the job hasn’t been carried out as thoroughly as it should have been.

Another clutch issue sorted! 🔧

A sticking clutch master cylinder was causing problems with gear selection. The master cylinder was replaced and the system fully bled, restoring smooth clutch operation and gear selection.

Another job successfully completed and back on the road! 🚗💨

🔧 Another PureTech wet belt replaced! 🔧

This one was a low-mileage vehicle, and although the belt didn’t look too bad at first glance, there was already plenty of cracking starting to appear. 😬

Thankfully, there was no belt debris in the strainer, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t debris sitting elsewhere in the sump. That’s why we always recommend removing and inspecting the sump properly — you don’t want to take any chances with your engine! 🚗💨

🔧 Another repair, another way to save the customer money! 💰

This Ford Transit Connect came in with snapped hub studs, meaning it needed a complete new hub and wheel bearing. Unfortunately, the cost of the new parts was looking pretty high.

Rather than simply going with the most expensive option, the customer sourced a good-quality second-hand complete hub and strut at a fraction of the cost.

We fitted it for him with no issues whatsoever, getting the van back on the road while saving the customer hundreds of pounds! 🙌

It’s always worth asking about your options — there’s often more than one way to fix a problem without breaking the bank.
