The British University Karting Championship (BUKC) Test Day 🎥

The BUKC is a national championship pitting teams from numerous universities at some of the best tracks around (we’re the best one obvs) 🏎️ 💨

To take part, you need a license. For a license, you need to attend a test day at the start of the academic year. You drive the fastest you can in top tier arrive & drive karts. Get your license. Bosh 👊

Today was one out of the two test days for October at Whilton Mill, the second being tomorrow 🗓️

Here’s a video highlight from today’s test 🎥 🏎️

Today was the last championship round for our Bambinos & Cadets for the Karting Academy. They use our 450m Mill Circuit, whereas the Juniors use our 960m National Circuit opposite 🏎️ 💨

When I was following the drivers around with the drone, it occurred to me that these young people are on their way to chasing their dreams. Dreams of becoming one of the best drivers out there.

It may happen quickly, or it may happen at a steady pace. Believing in yourself and your dreams/aspirations is what keeps you going 👊

All through the year, we provide Karting Academy programmes that help turn beginners into well-rounded and competitive drivers. The programme combined in-depth training modules, including mechanical STEM workshops, one-to-one coaching, simulator sessions, practice sessions, and time lapping 📖

Are you interested in joining our Karting Academy? Here’s how you can get involved:

1️⃣ Junior Academy Trial - Monday 26th October - Ages 12 to 16 - 15 minutes of free track time to show what you’re capable of. Click on the link under our bio to grab your spot

2️⃣ October Half-Term Race Camp - Tuesday 27th October - Ages 6 to 11 - a full day of on-track and off-track enrichment activities for £170 per child. Click on the link under our bio to grab your spot - 3 SPOTS LEFT!

Good morning party people! 👋

The sun is shining, despite it being a tad cold out ☀️ 🥶

Today we’ve got Club 100 with us on our International Circuit, as well as our Karting Academy getting stuck in on their championship round on the Mill Circuit 🏎️ 💨

I sent the drone up, and it’s nice to see that the grass is back to its healthy happy green colour, as opposed to the sun burnt yellow colour we had only a few months back due to the heatwave 🔥

Today is World Mental Health Day 💚

One of the hardest things about struggling with mental health is feeling like you have to deal with it on your own. You don’t.

Meaningful dialogue starts when we actively create opportunities for others to express themselves freely.

We never really know what someone else might be going through. They may carry it well, but it doesn’t mean they’re not struggling.

Sometimes, just checking in on someone can make a real difference. Reach out to your friends and family, let them know they matter in a world full of tomfoolery.

Remember: It’s okay to talk about your mental health today, tomorrow and every day after that 💚

🗣️🗣️ Throwback Thursday 🗣️🗣️

Found an interview clip of when ex-F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo (AKA Danny Ric, or the Honey Badger 🦡) visited Whilton Mill for a Daniel Ricciardo Series round in July 2019.

Interviewed by Henry Beaudette and filmed by Alpha Live, this 3.5 min clip discusses the fruition of DRS and what Daniel wanted to achieve with the establishment of the series 🏎️ 💨

“It was a way to give kids a chance to get into the sport, even just to try it. Even just to see if they like it, see what they think of it, to make it more accessible”

“With the Daniel Ricciardo Series, this is a way to make it more cost efficient and affordable for families to come in. Everything’s even, equal. It takes the stress away from “who’s got new parts”, “who’s this?”. It takes the financial stress out of the families and the kids can just go and race and have fun with it. If they want to just do it as a recreational thing on the weekend, they can. If they want to take it seriously and try use it as a stepping stone, they can”

Does anyone remember being there on the day? 👀
