Swamp Coolers were originally produced between 1930 and the 1960’s and were sold as an additional extra when purchasing a new car. The purpose of a swamp cooler was to provide cool air to the inside of the vehicle via the front passenger window. Using a pack of straw and ice within the body of the unit to cool the incoming air they were essentially early air conditioning units. They were particula

rly popular in the desert type states of America. Today, original swamp coolers are extremely rare and difficult to find and if you do manage to find one, they are often extremely expensive and will require extensive refurbishment. Swamp City Coolers produce bespoke lightweight coolers that add the vintage look to any classic ride without the additional weight of the cooling unit. Our coolers are made from from rigid polymer which means they are lightweight and hard wearing. These units are non-functional and are made for the aesthetic look only. However, due to the construction method they do direct airflow into the cabin, albeit not cooled. Our coolers do not hang from your vehicles glass, instead they are mounted using felt lined brackets that fit over the top radius of your door frame. They can be made to fit either left or right-hand drive vehicles and once fitted allow for the vehicles window to still be opened if required. The mounting brackets are felt lined to protect the paintwork of your pride and joy. With a wide choice of styles, sizes and colours, the sky really is the limit. You can choose the best size cooler to enhance the appearance of your car and have it painted and decorated any way you wish. The coolers come standard in either 8 inch or 6 inch diameter and can be produced in any length to suit your vehicle.
