Oak Tree Garage Oak Tree Garage is a independent PSA specialist which was established in 1985. Welcome to Oak Tree Garage serving the Northallerton and surrounding areas.

We are a highly regarded family run business operating since 1984. We offer a wide range of services & repairs. These include servicing, dealer level diagnostics, programming, software updates, tyres, 4 wheel alignment, exhausts, brakes, suspension, air conditioning etc. to all makes and models. We have a fully equipped MOT Bay for class 4 & 7 vehicles including car, van, pick-up and motor homes up to 3500kg. Our focus is customer satisfaction and we have a clean, spacious waiting area with hot drink facilities, toilets and disabled access. Loan cars are available if required and all work is carried out by fully trained technicians. We also offer free, no obligation estimates!

Peugeot Boxer – Turbo Issue Diagnosed & Resolved

This Peugeot Boxer came into the workshop with an ongoing turbocharging issue.

Despite what you might think, throwing more parts at this one wouldn’t have fixed the problem. ❌

New turbos, sensors or actuators would have made no difference.

After carrying out the correct diagnostic testing, we identified the root cause as a software issue within the Engine Control Module (ECM).

💻 The latest software was applied to the ECM, and the ongoing turbo issue was successfully rectified.

Another great example of why proper diagnostics come before replacing parts. 🧐

Sometimes, the customer gives us the most helpful diagnostic information…

This vehicle came to us with an intermittent non-start issue and most importantly, the customer mentioned it had been happening ever since the timing belt had been changed.

The vehicle wasn’t logging any fault codes 🧐, but that crucial bit of information gave us a strong direction for our testing.

We went straight to monitoring the camshaft, crankshaft and ignition signals.

That’s where we spotted a repetitive anomaly at around 120° after the crankshaft reference point.

Further investigation led us to the cause: a damaged tone ring on the crankshaft pulley.

🔩 A new crankshaft pulley was fitted, rectifying the issue and getting the vehicle starting correctly again.

The lesson? Never underestimate the information you as the customer can give you. Sometimes, that one small detail is the biggest clue in the whole diagnostic process. 👌

⚡ Peugeot e-2008 in the workshop with charging issues. 🔌

After carrying out a full diagnostic assessment, we traced the fault to a failed On-Board Charger (OBC). Unfortunately, this is a known weak point on some variants of the Peugeot e-2008.

A new On-Board Charger was fitted and programmed to the vehicle, restoring normal charging operation and getting the vehicle back on the road. ✅

🔧 Peugeot Expert in the workshop displaying a 'Tow Bar Malfunction' warning on the dashboard.

Using the vehicle's topology, we quickly identified that the trailer relay module was offline. ❌

Electrical testing at the module confirmed that all wiring and power supplies were correct. A closer inspection then revealed the cause of the fault – the trailer relay module had suffered water ingress, resulting in internal damage.

A new trailer relay module was fitted, restoring full operation of the tow bar system and clearing the fault. ✅

🔧 Peugeot Expert in the workshop with an intermittent non-start fault and multiple warning lights.

Our initial assessment showed the vehicle was reporting faults on the CAN-Bus network. During testing, we confirmed that whenever the fault occurred, communication with the engine control unit (ECU) was being lost.

Through accurate testing and electrical measurements, we traced the fault to a loose terminal on the CAN Low circuit.

A new terminal was fitted, restoring reliable communication and resolving the issue with minimal downtime for this working vehicle. ✅
