More power for this trusty Defender. 💪

A customer got in touch with us this week about his Land Rover Defender TD5, as he wasn’t sure whether it could be remapped. We were pleased to tell him yes, we could!

We applied a Stage 1 performance remap, giving the TD5 improved power and torque and that extra grunt the customer had always wanted from his Defender. A great upgrade for the TD5, with stronger pulling power and improved drivability while retaining the character of the original engine.

A real eye-catcher in the workshop, a 1976 Porsche 911.

Powered by the classic 2.7-litre flat-six, this one came in with us for a number of jobs and a good check over.

While getting the car into the workshop we discovered a failed engine mount, which we repaired. We also found the oil tank was leaking, so this was removed and resealed, along with a leaking thermostat which was replaced with an uprated unit.

We also carried out a leak-down test, fitted a new set of spark plugs and a new battery to get everything in good order.

It’s always a pleasure having something like this in the workshop, over 50 years old and still a seriously good-looking car.

You’ll be able to see this 911 on display at 45 Fuel, Snetterton from next week.

Abarth 124 Spider in with us for some fault finding and a new turbo. 🔧

The car came in with a noticeable whistle under boost, so we started by carrying out a smoke test to properly investigate where the system was losing pressure.

We found multiple leaking vacuum/boost pipes, which were resealed and secured, along with removing and reseating the blow-off valve.

The turbocharger also required replacing, and once removed, you can see from the photo just how badly damaged the compressor wheel was, with several of the blades bent and broken.

Quite a difference, and the Abarth is now back on the road and boosting as it should.

MECHANIC WANTED – NORTH WALSHAM

Coastal Motorsport is looking for another mechanic to join our growing workshop.

We’re looking for an experienced, capable mechanic who can confidently get stuck into the day-to-day workshop jobs, servicing, brakes, suspension, cambelts and clutches, repairs, diagnostics and general mechanical work.

We work on a huge variety of vehicles, from everyday cars and vans through to performance, classic and race cars, so there’s always something different going on.

We’re looking for someone who:

* Is experienced and confident working independently
* Is confident carrying out cambelts, clutches and larger mechanical repairs
* Takes pride in doing a job properly
* Has good diagnostic and mechanical knowledge
* Holds a full UK driving licence

The trusty little VW UP! in the workshop. 🔧

The customer WhatsApped us after the EPC light came on, followed by the engine management light. We got the car booked in and carried out diagnostic checks and further testing to establish exactly what was causing the issue. We traced the fault back to a failed throttle body.

A new throttle body was fitted, followed by the necessary setup and checks to confirm everything was operating correctly. All sorted, running as it should and the little UP! is ready to get back to work.

We’re closed today — gone testing!

We’re down at Snetterton with our #67 Camaro, putting in some testing ahead of the next race weekend.

We love days like today at Coastal Motorsport.

This morning we had a Renault Master in for a Stage 1 remap, giving it some extra power and torque to make life a bit easier when it’s loaded up.

Then at the other end of the scale, an Aston Martin Vanquish S in the workshop.

It’s why we enjoy what we do. One minute we’re working on someone’s workhorse, the next it’s their pride and joy.

Whatever comes through the doors, it gets the same care and attention from us.

A 2016 Audi SQ7, powered by the 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo diesel, in with us for a Stage 1 performance remap.

Standard figures are already serious, but there was plenty more to unlock:

435hp → 500hp
900Nm → 1,000Nm

That’s +65hp and +100Nm, giving this big V8 diesel even stronger acceleration and a huge amount of torque through the rev range.

A proper performance SUV and now making a very healthy 500hp and 1,000Nm.
