It’s important to keep on top of your advisories from you Mot and this post will show why.

This wheel and tyre was removed from a car in for its Mot. In its previous Mot it was advised on its tyres cracking. Come time for this years Mot test it is clear they are past the advised stage.

With bulges like these, it could have been one pot hole away from disaster and we all know there is no shortage of pot holes in East Lothian.

We fitted 4 new tyres to the car before its retest.

This morning we had a new customer phone us with a non start situation with their Toyota Prius Hybrid in Gullane.

We went to their house and supplied 12v to the battery and got the vehicle running. After driving the car back to the garage, we carried out a battery test.

New battery was supplied and fitted to the Toyota and then the car dropped back off to the customers house. Another happy customer back on road.

We recently had this customer present us with this BMW X6 M50d with a vibration at speeds above 50mph.

They had previously had the tyres changed and balanced to try and fix this. These are common for the transfer box to cause a bad vibration. We installed a new transfer box with fresh oil. Diagnostics used to code and calibrate the new unit to the vehicle.

Once this repair was carried out the vibration was gone when driving and another happy customer.

🚨🚨🚨 Avoid Wet Belt Disasters 🚨🚨🚨

The customer of this Vauxhall Corsa wanted us to replace the wet belt out for peace of mind after hearing about all the issues they are known for. Upon removal of the belt and the sump it was the best call. Strainer was choked and belt was cracking. Brand new wet belt kit, sump, rocker cover gasket and drive belts were replaced with the correct oil. This will limit any chance of oil pressure issues in the future.

These wet belt can fail at any time. We have replaced them a month out of warranty with a dealership service history and only 12,000 miles on the clock.

The wet belt failing starts with it delaminating/breaking up, which gets pulled into strainer in the sump. This then causes the strainer to gradually block which leads to oil starvation. When this fault isn’t caught on time it can be terminal for the engine. So if you have any oil pressure faults or any concerns, give us a phone to book in.

With every wet belt we replace, we use a Forte Advanced Motor Flush to help clean out any of the contamination before stripping the engine to replace the wet belt. All strainers are cleaner, if not replaced. Gauzes that are present will be cleaned also. Full wet belt kit will be replaced with the correct oil.

Upon replacement, we require to keep the vehicle overnight to allow any sealer to dry when required.

✅✅✅ Subaru Impreza Wrx Sti ✅✅✅
🚨🚨🚨 Clutch & Timing Belt 🚨🚨🚨

2 weeks ago we had this Subaru Impreza Wrx Sti in. Clutch was slipping and the timing belt was to be replaced for customers peace of mind.

With working on Subarus since I was a teenager, I know when doing both these jobs it’s best to remove the engine.

With the engine removed a full timing belt kit including water pump and thermostat was fitted. Genuine Subaru Exedy clutch kit and thrust bearing were fitted after the flywheel was cleaned.

With the engine refitted to the Subaru with fresh oil and coolant it was nearly time to return the car back to its owner but not before the coolant is fully bled up and then test driven.
