💥 Clutch failure!

This one came in with a serious clutch issue, and once stripped down the problem was pretty obvious. As you can see in the photo, the clutch release fork has worn right through, leaving a large hole where there definitely shouldn’t be one! 😬

A good example of why unusual clutch noises, changes in pedal feel or difficulty selecting gears shouldn’t be ignored — catching a problem early can save you from a much bigger repair.

🔧 New clutch and release components required to get this one back on the road.

Job Opportunity – MOT Tester / Mechanic

We’re looking for a qualified MOT Tester / Mechanic to join our friendly team.

Salary

£30,000 per year

Working Hours

* Monday to Thursday: 9:00am – 5:00pm (30-minute lunch break)
* Friday: 7:30am – 3:00pm (30-minute lunch break)
* No weekend work

Start your weekend early with a guaranteed 3:00pm finish every Friday.

Benefits

* 21 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays

The Role

Your main responsibilities will include:

* Carrying out Class 1, 2 and 4 MOT tests
* Occasional mechanical repairs and servicing
* Tyre fitting and replacement
* Keeping the workshop and MOT testing lane clean, tidy and organised
* Maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service

Essential Requirements

* Qualified MOT Tester with at least a Class 4 MOT Testing licence
* Level 3 qualified Motor Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
* Full, valid UK driving licence
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A reliable, professional attitude with good attention to detail

🚗 Another BMW N47 Timing Chain Failure Repaired at Newton MOT Ltd! 🔧

This BMW N47 came into our workshop with a failed timing chain caused by a lack of regular servicing.

As you can see from the photos, the thick black sludge throughout the engine is what's commonly known in the trade as "Black Death." This build-up is caused by neglected oil changes and poor maintenance, starving the timing chain of proper lubrication and leading to premature failure.

✅ The good news? We managed to save this engine and get it back on the road!

This expensive repair could have been completely avoided with regular servicing and routine maintenance. Looking after your vehicle not only saves you money in the long run but also helps prevent major engine damage.
