Beautiful 640d in with us this week for an oil service and coolant flush.

The oil cooler had previously been replaced on this car, but unfortunately the coolant became contaminated during the repair and was never properly cleaned out.

We carried out a chemical flush of the cooling system before refilling it with genuine BMW coolant, getting everything back to how it should be.

Oil service completed, iDrive service history updated and the car was back on the road, healthy as ever.

Another BMW back in the workshop 🔧

This one came in for a couple of issues, so we got straight to work.

🔧 Engine mounts replaced to eliminate excessive vibration
🔧 DPF flexi replaced to sort the exhaust leak
🔧 Full inspection and road test carried out before handing the car back

Another F10 520d in the workshop.

This one came in with a slow coolant leak, which we quickly traced to the notorious coolant fl**ge on the cylinder head.

While the car was in, the customer also decided to have the intake manifold de-flapped, so we took care of both jobs while we were there.

We went ahead with:

• New coolant fl**ge
• Flapless intake manifold gasket
• Sealing surfaces thoroughly cleaned

Coolant topped up, everything checked over and the car road tested before being returned to the customer leak-free.

BMW F20 1 Series in for a timing chain replacement and some maintenance.

This one came in with complaints of sluggish throttle response and a wobble under braking.

We quickly identified a sticking O/S front brake caliper along with warped front discs.

On further inspection, we also found the front lower arms were perished, the rocker cover was leaking, and after some diagnostics, a torn vacuum hose responsible for the EGR system was identified.

We went ahead with:

• Full IWIS timing chain kit
• EGR vacuum hose replacement
• New rocker cover
• New front discs and pads
• New front lower arms

The service history was updated, the car was thoroughly road tested and it was returned to the customer running and driving fault-free.

Another BMW future-proofed and back on the road.

BMW F10 520d in for a timing chain replacement 🔧

Aside from the timing chain starting to rattle, this car had also suffered from a few questionable previous repairs.

The coolant fl**ge was leaking and had previously been “repaired” with a serious amount of silicone, while the exhaust manifold was also missing a few studs.

We carried out:

• Full IWIS timing chain kit
• New exhaust manifold gaskets
• New coolant fl**ge
• Oil service
• Full coolant flush

Everything put back together properly, checked over and road tested before being handed back to the customer.

Back on the road and trouble-free. ✅

Another week, another G31 in for a major mechanical overhaul 🔧

This G31 does some serious mileage, so the customer brought it in for a timing chain replacement, fuel leak repair and a thorough inspection to identify any other areas that would benefit from some preventative maintenance.

As is often the case, the scope of work grew from there. By the time we were finished, we had carried out:

• Full timing chain replacement
• Reconditioned turbocharger
• New Sachs front shocks
• New drop links
• New torsion arms
• OEM water pump & thermostat
• Auxiliary belt & tensioner
• OEM rocker cover
• OEM rear discs & pads
• OEM front pads
• OEM Artic disc
• OEM fuel line
• All filters
• Fresh engine oil & coolant flush

Once everything was completed, the car was fully road tested, the BMW digital service history was updated using the BMW key reader, and it even received a complimentary wash before collection.

Back on the road and properly future-proofed for many, many more happy miles. 👌

2017 G31 in for a strange noise on deceleration

This G31 came in with a strange vibration and grinding noise, particularly noticeable whenever there was no load on the drivetrain.

After a quick test drive, it was clear we had an issue within the driveline. We got the car up in the air and quickly found the culprit , a completely perished flex disc (donut) at the rear differential.

A new replacement was fitted straight off the shelf, followed by a thorough road test to make sure everything was running as it should.

✅ Fault diagnosed
✅ New flex disc fitted
✅ Road tested
✅ Back to the customer the same day

Another job diagnosed and repaired without unnecessary parts or hassle.

BMW X4 M Sport — Brake Replacement

Another BMW in with us this week, this time a 2018 X4 for a fresh set of brakes.

We replaced the M Sport front brakes with new discs and pads, then reset the brake service indicator and updated the iDrive service history to keep the maintenance records up to date.

The customer was also advised of some future maintenance work required. Once everything was checked over, the X4 was road tested and is now ready to go. 🔧
