🔥 VW Scirocco R – Previously ‘tuned’… but barely making more power than stock!

Another previously tuned car on the dyno, this time a 2017 VW Scirocco R powered by the 2.0 TFSI EA113 (CDLK) engine – closely related to the unit found in the Audi S3.

As always, we tested the car exactly as it arrived before returning it to stock for a true back-to-back comparison.

📊 Dyno Results:

⚫ Stock Tune = 276bhp & 269lbft
🔵 Unknown Tune = 282bhp & 299lbft
🔴 Celtic Stage 1 = 326bhp & 329lbft

Just 6bhp over stock from the previous tune versus a gain of 50bhp and 60lbft over stock with our Stage 1 calibration.

Join the Celtic Tuning Team – Mobile Tuning Technician

We're looking for a Mobile Tuning Technician to join our team at our HQ in Newquay, Cornwall.

This is a genuinely varied, hands-on role. Around one week in every three, you'll be on the road tuning customer vehicles across the South of England, with all travel and accommodation covered. Back at HQ, no two days are the same – you'll be strapping cars onto the dyno and logging parameters alongside our development team, supporting our worldwide dealer network, and providing quotations and support to customers by phone and email. You'll get to know every area of the business.

You don't need a background in tuning or formal mechanical qualifications – we provide comprehensive training on our professional ECU tuning and diagnostic equipment, delivered by a highly experienced team. What we look for is genuine enthusiasm for cars, strong attention to detail, and pride in working to the high standards our customers expect. Hands-on experience with vehicles – professional or personal – is a definite advantage.

BMW 335i – Previously tuned… but making LESS power than stock! 🤯

This E93 BMW 335i came in for our Stage 1 calibration, but during our initial logging something didn't quite add up. The car had clearly been tuned before. Rather than tuning on top of an unknown calibration, we always return the ECU to a genuine stock file and carry out all of our development, logging and testing from a known baseline.

The results were interesting...

✅ 314bhp & 312lbft

The previous tune produced a big spike in torque, but actually lost power at the top end. Peak horsepower was 11bhp lower than the factory calibration.

After developing our own Stage 1 software, the N55 delivered strong, smooth power throughout the rev range while remaining within the limitations of the early pressure wastegate (PWG) turbo system.

Audi A1 – 1.4 TFSI – 189bhp!

This MY2016 Audi A1 came in for a Stage 1 calibration, powered by the 1.4 TFSI EA211 (CZEA) engine.

The EA211 replaced the older EA111 and brought a number of improvements, including a single turbocharger, integrated water-to-air charge cooling, and an overall more robust design. A great little engine that responds brilliantly to calibration.

An MY2009 Scirocco in for tuning, running the CAWB engine from the first generation of the EA888 platform. Equipped with an intake and downpipe, this one responds really well to tuning, with the K03 turbo delivering a huge increase in mid-range performance.

Combined with our Stage 1 ECU software and Stage 1 DQ250E gearbox calibration, torque jumps from 220lbft to 316lbft, completely transforming the way the car drives.
