A little teaser of what's to come... šŸ‘€šŸ

A couple of months ago, I started talking with Skewer Graphics about doing something a bit special with a car that's been part of my life for the last 24 years.

As many of you know, it's a rally homologation car, so rather than just adding a few random stickers, we wanted to create something that reflects both its rally heritage and RBS Autos

Here's an very very early preview of the direction we're taking.

I'm sure by the time it's finished it'll look nothing like this

I can't wait to see it brought to life over the coming months.

Another job I tackled this week was diagnosing a fuel leak on a VW campervan .

The carburetor was leaking fuel, so I ordered a rebuild kit, stripped it down, fitted all new gaskets and seals, and put it back together.
when we turned the key apparently it started better than it ever has in the last decade .

Just a couple of days before the festival
I diagnosed this Audi A4 with a failed turbocharger.

This week, i had it recovered into the workshop, i replaced the turbo with a brand new unit from turbo technics and now it drives beautifullyā€”no noises, just smooth performance.

This one was a bit different ā€” my uncle made the trip all the way down from Newcastle to Southampton just for me to sort his van out.
He dropped the van off then got the train home ,

The van originally came in with a smoking on start up issue, and after visiting three different garages up in Newcastle, heā€™d been given three different possible diagnoses ā€” turbo, EGR valve, or injectors.
In the end, it turned out to be none of those.
After going through it properly, I found the fault to be a DPF issue and that had now been resolved.

While it was here, I also gave the van a thorough check over to get it as right as possible for him.
As well as sorting the original issue, itā€™s also had:
2 new rear shock absorbers
new rear brakes
a new ball joint
a full new exhaust system fitted

Itā€™s now all ready to go in for its MOT tomorrow, and then itā€™ll be heading back up north when he comes to collect it on Saturday.

Always nice to be trusted with family motors ā€” especially when theyā€™re willing to travel that far to have me work on it šŸ‘

Todayā€™s job in the workshop was a radiator replacement on a CitroĆ«n C3 Aircross ā€” and on the hottest day of the year so far, it was definitely a warm one ā˜€ļøšŸ„µ

This wasnā€™t a quick little swap either ā€” the radiator replacement on the C3 Aircross required the whole front end of the vehicle to be removed to gain access, so it was a fairly involved job from start to finish.

Even though I was working indoors in the unit, the thermometer was showing 44Ā°C, so it was a proper test in the heat ā€” but the job got done, the new radiator was fitted, and the CitroĆ«n is now back together and ready to go again.

If you're reading this, you probably follow me on social media and will already know that I've been working at the Isle of Wight Festival this weekend as part of the accessibility transport team.

What a weekend it's been! Apparently, close to 8500 passengers were transported on the accessibility buses and buggy throughout the festival weekend making it the busiest year they've had

On the Thursday that festival started i had a call from a gentleman who'd just arrived on the island from Wales for the festival.
His camper had sprung a leak , I told him there was nothing I could do until after the festival was over ,
So today after I finished my last shift at 15:30 I went straight out to him to fit a new water pump .

Tomorrow, I'm having a well-deserved day off to rest, recharge, and recover after a very busy weekend. So, unfortunately, if anybody needs me tomorrow I'll only be available on the phone

Thanks to everyone involved for another fantastic Isle of Wight Festival. Now it's time for a bit of rest!

And I'm back at the Isle of Wight Festival site for my 10th year in a row as an on-site mechanic!

Iā€™ll be helping where needed , for traders and general public all weekend.

And for the second year Iā€™m also driving for the festivalā€™s accessibility teamā€”helping everyone get where they need. If you see me or the van give me a waveā€”Iā€™m on site every day from 8am until midnight at least

Today I fitted a brand-new turbo (not reconditioned) on a Hyundai i800, along with new oil lines and a full serviceā€”all carried out at the customerā€™s home for their convenience.

I also diagnosed an Audi A4 this morning, also for a turbo replacementā€”so it seems today is a turbo day.

Mobile work is my specialty, but donā€™t forgetā€”weā€™ve got the workshop for bigger jobs.
